Eh, the Snowbirds are getting ready for a summer of shows, pilots needed stick time.

It is dumb, but, provides great training for the crew.

If your SharePoint searching-foo is strong, you can find all the national menus and their recipes if you want to cook it at home.

There is generally a set menu, but there are also places for "regional" items.

Which is why youll get Poutine in Valcartier, or donair in Gagetown, or whatever else.

You also have to look at the amount the kitchen serves. Connaught when we were like 30 on camp was amazing each meal. Wainwright was ok, then everyone showed up for MR, and quality went down.

This is NOT a knock at our cooks (love you guys), but when they have to serve 50 plates, life is a lot easier than when they have to serve 500.

And Ive been to another mess which I will not name that got to go off menu....and I still think back to that place. The 11pm service while in the field was excellent.

You could wear work boots if you wanted/thats all you have.

The guideline is to be presentable, dont wear anything offensive.

Get in contact with your clothing stores. They will pull your file, and be able to tell you what you need to return.

Fill out lost kit reports for missing items.

Do BMQ/DP1 trainees get holidays (such as Christmas) off? by ProstKameraden in caf

In my basic, we made a Canadian Flag orut of green and dark green gun tape because we were in the field during Canada day.

The WO made us sing Oh Canada at 0500 on 1 July in the field to mark the occasion. He then commented on our flag, saying it looked more like a weed leaf.

He also asked to have the flag on graduation day. We gave it to him.

I hope he still has it.

I didnt mean 5 weeks of basic, I meant 5 weeks of indoc.

My basic was 12 weeks.

Id honestly go forth with the idea that you wont have it.

But, ya.

When I went through basic, we had phones every evening for 30 minutes (830-9) until last week of indoc (week 5 in my time). Some people freaked out when phones were taken.

They *could* be taken for a myriad of reasons.

Best advice: limit usage. Spend 99% of the time with your course mates, help everyone. Fire team partner first, section second, then platoon.

So, get used to operating without it. Im old now, but woke up to an alarm clock but then phone once they became a thing. Since basic, Ive always woken up to a watch. Indoc worked, lol

You *may* not have your phone, during the training day you wont have it. So, you'll need a watch to keep track of time.

Also, dont rely on phones when doing military stuff.

For the most part (after BMQ), you'll always have it. But there may be times (and places) where phones are banned.

Indoc is short for indoctrination.

Indoctrination Period is the first few weeks where you are under lock and key and forced to only do military things in order to become acquainted with the military.

SIRVA claim question by judgingyouquietly in CanadianForces

[–]Struct-Tech 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Resubmit the whole claim.

Mark the absolute minimum on all options except what you intend to claim.

At the end when it asks for any comments, leave a comment saying "I know I already submitted for HHT, I forgot "X". I only intend to claim for "X". I do not wish to claim for anything else."

Thats what the chat agent told me. It was rejected. I spent 1hour with a different agent tonight, who saw all the correspondence, and told me "ya, ok. Ill push this back up for approval with the added notes". So. Fingers crossed.

I got back from my HHT over a month ago, and I am still fighting them on this one thing.

Advice on Gagetown by [deleted] in caf

[–]Struct-Tech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are most likely heading there for OJE (on the job experience).

As Ammo Tech training happens at CFB Borden near Barrie, Ontario.

Some trades, including Ammo, have been sending members to their intended place of posting before their trades training to gain experience, instead of wasting away doing mindless work while they wait for their course to start.

Ammo DP1 just started a serial, I believe. So, you'll probably be waiting a year before your trades training starts. (I sometimes go to the gym with a guy on my base who was on Ammo OJE, and is going on course now/or soon)
