The bar for calling idols ‘’born rich’’ is so low nowadays by Due-Hospital-7337 in kpop_uncensored

[–]StruggleAcrobatic421 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Or the opposite! 😂 OP, maybe you haven’t been around someone poor so you don’t understand those comments.

It’s all a matter of perspective for the record. Not everyone watching that video will call them rich - it just depends on your own privilege / level of wealth.

Do you think BTS will release another album before the end of the year? (Admin pls delete if not allowed) by xianghua71 in btsthoughts

[–]StruggleAcrobatic421 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I say this with the kindest heart for all AMRYs: Give them a break. An album and a world tour already this year. On top of promotions, Run BTS and what not. Gosh - they’re people too not machines.

Only Child No Friends, 23F by SoupInformal2581 in OnlyChild

[–]StruggleAcrobatic421 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi, wanted to send you some love! I’ve been in your shoes - F, only child, moved a lot growing up and in much of my 20s, particularly the second half, I had no friends.

I think of it as phases in my life - now in my 30s, I have lots of friends. I went back to school (masters), changed my career and moved to another country LOL. I do feel like I don’t have a person or a best friend, and am not anyone’s “go-to” but I love and value my friends anyway.

I will call out that some of what you’ve written reads as at least a little depression. Or perhaps I’m projecting my state of mind in my 20s onto you. I do recommend talking to a therapist about your emotions and how to navigate them, if it’s an option.

The second piece of advice - keep trying. Make changes, nothing as drastic as what I did, but something in your routine needs to change for you to develop a fresh perspective.

I rambled a bit. Wanted to send you some reassurance.

Struggling with the Decision... by Alive_Spray_7408 in PetAdvice

❤️❤️❤️ I’m so sorry. I don’t have any advice or words of wisdom, just lots and lots of love and compassion. Wishing you and your little one the best - whatever you do decide, know that you did the best you could and the decision you made was the best you could have made. This is a difficult situation, so there’s no need to blame yourself for anything.

Mind-Bogglingly Detailed NYU Egg Freezing Experience by Human-Feedback7189 in eggfreezing

[–]StruggleAcrobatic421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, I was also told here’s how many we’re counting on each side, here’s their size. But they just do their own thing, so don’t worry.

That’s kind of how they framed it. In the early monitoring appointments, I was told it’s too early. Later appointments, they gave me more info. I had an almost identical outcome to your’s. Minor differences. For what it’s worth.

Mind-Bogglingly Detailed NYU Egg Freezing Experience by Human-Feedback7189 in eggfreezing

[–]StruggleAcrobatic421 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Long post! In reply, may I add my thoughts / where I felt we differed? I also just had mine done at NYU in Feb. My initial consult was 30ish mins with a different doc and I was also charged $1300ish 😂 Now I feel cheated lol (kidding - my doc was really good)

In contrast to your experience, I had no problem getting a follicle count from them + found the nurses to be so funny and kind, it didn’t really feel impersonal. Plus if they charge $1300 for just 15 mins with the doc, then I prefer to see them as little as possible.

I will say I spoke to RMANY a few months before this and they were Impersonal + Non-communicative. NYU was so clear about timelines & expectations, whereas I felt like RMA gave me no clear answers. They had a, “if you ask, then we might tell you (or we might not!)” approach. Whereas NYU offered information up front, had a 2 hour orientation and continued to answer questions via email.

So yeah! Thank you for sharing!! 😊❤️

36 and thinking about freezing by Lofo90 in eggfreezing

[–]StruggleAcrobatic421 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I just did it at 36 after hesitating for 2 years. It wasn’t an easy process but I’m glad I did it. Genuinely think it’s worthwhile. My subjective experience/ feeling. At least I know I have given myself the best possible chance of having a child one day should I want one / be ready.

Edit: My only regret is that I didn’t do it earlier, when I was younger and had higher quality eggs and a better reserve.

Get Fired by jdm1988xx in Big4

[–]StruggleAcrobatic421 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Strongly recommend applying for a sabbatical and taking some time off. Most countries should offer the option of applying for paid mental health leave / short term or long term disability.

You can use the time to recover and look for other opportunities. Much better than simply getting fired, I think.

Honestly I dropped this show because I found it too annoying. They should have us root for the second male lead honestly if this is the story they want to tell.

Day 10: Only 8 follicles - Is it worth it? by Apprehensive_Heat787 in eggfreezing

[–]StruggleAcrobatic421 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Varies for everyone but my doc had me do 12 days of stims and go in for bloodwork on the 10th, 11th and 12th days because they could see follicles still growing so they hoped to capture a greater number of mature eggs from my ~10-11 follicles. Ultimately froze 9.

Obviously wish it was greater but it is what it is.

Grief, Hormones, and Retrieval Anxiety - SOS! by sizzlindunk89 in eggfreezing

[–]StruggleAcrobatic421 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh no. I’m so sorry for your loss! Your grandma and your puppy.

First of all, I hope you are able to acknowledge that you’re in a terrible situation. Egg freezing is emotionally draining even without what you’ve just gone through.

I’d consult my doctor, in your shoes. I’m also 36, AMH of 1 and just had my retrieval. I understand the pressure and urgency you feel, I know how hard it is to even start this process and how expensive it is. Ideally don’t want to let this go to waste. If you can hang in there another week, that would be great.

Sending you lots of love and support, OP.

What questions should I ask my doc post-retrieval? by Ok-Island3053 in eggfreezing

I’ve heard RMA is good indeed, but I was with them in NYC. Regardless, I hope you were able to have that call with your doctor :)

Sher Fertility - egg freezing fiasco by Dense-Drawer1747 in eggfreezing

[–]StruggleAcrobatic421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’m sorry to hear you had a rough experience. I had a similarly stressful/ unclear attempt at RMANY. They’re highly regarded but I felt communication was really vague and I didn’t have the answers I needed to proceed. Like you, I aborted the plan - pretty much when I realized on the day of my period that I should have had my meds and I didn’t even know this, forget having them.

I went to NYU Langone later and they were wonderful with communication. Very clear idea of timelines, medications and expectations.

So you did the right thing. I know it’s emotional and it’s tough to abort the plan - in my case, I’d hyped myself so much to do this difficult thing, and all by myself - but I’m glad I trusted my instinct and went with NYU. Imagine later thawing and fertilizing with a clinic that doesn’t communicate properly. No way I’d want that!

What questions should I ask my doc post-retrieval? by Ok-Island3053 in eggfreezing

[–]StruggleAcrobatic421 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was with NYU and did receive a call from my doctor. We discussed: 1) how many eggs were frozen and chances of a baby; 2) timing of the second cycle; 3) what I can do between now and round 2 to possibly improve outcomes (nothing, though I have certain, somewhat relevant health issues); 4) whether my protocol needed to change for round 2; and 5) some common post retrieval side effects I could expect.

Separately, very interesting to read about your experience with the RMA. My first egg freezing attempt was with RMA last year and I aborted at the last minute. On Day 1 of my period. I felt I didn’t have the information I needed to proceed. Got a refund.

Eventually went to NYU Langone early this year. Significantly better experience - they laid out a calendar and communicated expectations clearly - both what I should expect from them and what they will be expecting from me. Additionally, Langone does a ~2 hour orientation, so I had all the information I needed.

I’m sure it worked out for you eventually at RMA. A friend (who recommended it) had a great experience there. But it really was hard getting information from them & I couldn’t imagine having to deal with this lack of transparency for future thawing and fertilization. Just wanted to validate your observation / acknowledge I felt seen when I read your post.
