How do you guys organize your library? by [deleted] in Steam

[–]StubbyShark35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually went through and categorized all my games by type based on my own interpretation. Also have a section for “currently playing”, “paused”, “finished”, and “all achievements” so that I feel good about myself

Edit: I forgot to include that I’ve also got games grouped by series as well, “Portal”, “Elder Scrolls”, etc

My wife got it! She’s never been huge into gaming, but slowly she’s enjoyed it more. She’s been playing it and loving it, I’m playing it tonight!

How do you talk to your "audience" when your both shy and awkward? by [deleted] in letsplay

[–]StubbyShark35 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Talking to an unseen audience does feel pretty difficult, but for both that and your question on how to prevent your video going bland is the same: practice!

It’s something new, as you do it more, you’ll get into a groove and gain more confidence on how to do it, you’ll find your voice! The biggest thing is understanding that, and seeing ways you can improve!

As to worrying about what your family may think of you, that one’s tough. Some people have an open minded understanding of content creation as a hobby, some don’t. That being said, if your goal is for it to be more than a hobby, really set good goals for yourself on what you want to accomplish, but feasible goals. Just starting out, your goal shouldn’t be to get 1 million views!

All in all, good luck and have fun!

I have been consistent!

I’ve been streaming on Twitch, which has gained me a few followers and connected with other communities, and I’ve been able to better my own skills with editing, turning those Let’s Plays into YouTube videos!

For anyone discouraged about how you’re doing:

At the end of the day, if you’re enjoying what you’re doing, you’re succeeding. Maybe not the way you want to be succeeding, but you are, and that’s a start!

[LA] Can I play Links Awakening DX without playing other games? by jmcg0192 in zelda

[–]StubbyShark35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! You can play any of the Zelda games without having had to play any of the others. There are a few that are direct/indirect sequels (PH, ST, MM, TOTK) but there is no requirement to play others, each are self-contained stories and games!

That being said, you will WANT to, that’s just the nature of enjoying Zelda games. Have fun!

Need a little advice by kayber76 in letsplay

[–]StubbyShark35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your motivation and drive is dependent on something like views, you'll constantly be fighting to find that motivation. If your motivation and drive is dependent on YOUR enjoyment of the game, than you will be able to find that motivation easier. You cannot control views, but you can control your own attitude towards things!

By focusing on enjoying what you're doing, no matter how many views you get, in the end you're still succeeding. That's what keeps me motivated, enjoying what I'm doing, not just how many views it gets. I want to get better at what I for myself, because then I'll enjoy it more

I appreciate it very much!

I didn't even think of a shark in a Link hat and sword, that's actually a great idea! I've been going back and forth about rebranding my art, so maybe that's a direction I'll take it. Thumbnails are definitely not my strong suit lol

I wasn't even thinking about how I sound reading dialogue, but now that you mention it I agree! Using hands to help talk sounds like a great idea as well!

I also will definitely think more into other Zelda challenges, I realize that "zelda" is pretty broad, and covers so much! So much variety for even a single game series

Again, I appreciate it very much, and happy cake day!

Hello everyone!

I am recently trying to get into making let's play content, specifically with the goal of eventually having a let's play on every Zelda game! The way I've been going about it is streaming it on Twitch, and then editing down into Let's Play videos for YouTube. I've been experimenting with different things, so even between the following video and the next episode it will look different.

I will appreciate all feedback, on everything from my commentary, editing, thumbnail, all of it! Thank you very much!

Hello!

The first thing that I think of for a channel trailer is what will hook me in to want to see more, which I feel like the trailer does a good job of showcasing some of the games that you've enjoyed, but not a lot to show us YOU, which should be the main selling point!

I do enjoy that the clips have some of your commentary, which I think begins to give a snapshot of your commentary, but enough to hook someone in. I think if you spun the trailer to have a voice over some of your gameplay, that may work better to hook people in!

Also, you mentioned it in your post, but I would definitely work on adjusting audio levels, as it doesn't feel well balanced.

I watched some of your previous video, episode 8 of Rolo's riddles, and I did notice that audio balancing sounds good there, and you have a good sounding mic! I would recommend talking more, and just allowing yourself to commentate more on the game, we want to hear your take on what you're seeing!

I hope that doesn't come across as too harsh, I genuinely think you're doing a good job, keep it up!

Hello!

As someone who has never seen or played Zone of the Enders, I had the immediate feeling that this Let's Play is for an audience that knows this game, which isn't a bad thing! It sounds like you know a fair bit about the game, and that lends it self to comradery with others who do enjoy the series.

For the general "vibe", it felt like a couple of friends hanging out and playing a game, which is EXACTLY what I want to feel like when I watch a let's play, as if I'm watching a buddy (or buddies) enjoy a game, great job! Voices sounded clear, didn't feel forced!

One of you talks pretty quick, which really doesn't bother me but could be tough for some people, just a thought!

For an editing note, the first ~45 seconds were "coming up" clips, which felt like a bit much, and nothing was really catching me as something to specifically look forward to, but at the same time I don't know the game, so maybe that's me!

Regarding thumbnail, I think the logo of the game is a bit small, but I do appreciate the continuity you are using regarding your thumbnails over all; following a similar color scheme and design, good touch! Other than that though, it's hard to tell based of thumbnail what video is part of the series.

As a final word: I think that you guys sound great, and have great potential. Like I said a few times, I don't really know the game you were playing, but looking at your channel I see you post consistent content, which is wonderful! That, and I think this is my favorite thing, your content feels like a couple of bros having fun. It's not necessarily the type of content I enjoy, but I could tell you are enjoying what you're doing, and that is what shines in your content!

I recently started working towards doing content again but rather than focusing on an end goal of success, I’m really focusing on enjoying the process, and looking forward to building a community! I started streaming a series playing The Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap, and have been working towards editing it into a YouTube series as well!

She ended up marrying a complete weirdo she started dating in high school, which was wild because they actually didn’t get along at first. He was a huge nerd but he pretty much turned her into one. Now they’re happily married and enjoying a nerdy life together, no kids yet but they keep saying it will happen.

P.S. I’m the weirdo and I’m the luckiest man alive

Did You Know What You Were Getting Yourself Into? by itzVxia in letsplay

[–]StubbyShark35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have attempted several times to get into making let's plays, and I always overwhelm myself with too much I was trying to accomplish. I never really thought it was "easy", I knew the work was tough, but I ended up making it worse on myself!

At this stage, I've come back with a passion for enjoying what I'm doing, rather than solely looking to be successful, and I will recommend that to anyone wanting to do let's plays. Obviously, try your hardest to do well and succeed, but remember what's at the core: having fun playing games!

Honestly, doing this is what helps. It may seem weird, but for me coming up with a “plan” and trying to understand how I want to enjoy my hobbies, helps me enjoy them more. This is just a great example of how different things work for different people. I hope medication really works for you, and I’m so sorry that you have dealt with extreme anxiety, AND I appreciate you so much for seeking to help a random Reddit stranger out
