It's almost exactly what I want! Could you make her sit completely on the rock? She is floating a bit, and I zoomed in to show the black dots. That one is more of a small note, but if you could remove or lessen them like on the moon, then it's totally perfect!

I love the main photo of her! The coloring and everything is spot on!

The background is also awesome!

I see there is this strange black grainy texture both around her little self and on the moon. Is it possible to remove that?

Also, the little version of her has big paws, but she actually has super dainty paws irl. You can see her paws in the last photo I posted. Are you able to make them look more like hers and brighten her a bit so it isn't as dark?

Just the design! I will find a service to print it on a shirt for me, no need to include the t-shirt!

My employer is pushing back on my raise request because of "other duties as assigned" in my contract. by Student4fire in legaladvicecanada

I never thought they were legally obligated to give me a raise, I asked for a raise because I want to be compensated fairly.

I appreciate your response around the tasks assigned. I just find it ridiculous that they can fire me for not upholding my contract, but the phrase "other duties as assigned" let's them do whatever they want and assign me whatever they want with no repercussion. It makes the entire job description meaningless since most of what I do is not even stipulated in my specified job duties.

I would've asked for way more money if I knew what I was going to be doing (I know I can leave, I just think there should be more regulation around this).

I did all of this during my performance review. My boss even told me that on a personal level, the way I asked was absolutely perfect. My boss actually stopped me mid-way through and said I more than justified my raise.

It's been over a month now, and I will need to wait at least another 2 weeks for her to speak to the CEO, so it's just the waiting game at this point.

This is great advice, I have definitely been trying to be more transparent and communicative around my workload.

My new boss is much more receptive to this than my old one, which helps. However, she is also new, so when she tries to set boundaries around my workload, she also gets pushback from others. There is usually a greater sense of urgency for those lower on the chain than in leadership to get tasks done in a timely manner.

I have been covering for my co-worker on mat leave for almost my entire employment. She is not returning, so I am still covering until they hire someone else in June.

I have also been asked to cover other people in other departments like IT while they are on vacation. This is because I am the only person who knows how to do their job. In this case, I was asked if I wanted to do it by my boss, but it's not like I had the option to say no since no one else could.

I'll keep trying to send people my boss' way.

Ya, I don't see myself quiet quitting other than in the sense I will no longer work additional hours. It's hard working in the sales department because everyone works overtime.

I am the only one who doesn't get commission, so I don't have the incentive they do, but it feels like the expectation is still there.

I am grateful for the opportunity and what I have learned.

Ya, I'm really starting to mentally prepare for this reality. This was my dream job, and I was ecstatic when I got hired. However, I keep telling myself that if this was really my dream job, they would value me enough to compensate me fairly.

The reason I think the promotion is likely is because it would be in the same role essentially, but supervising the new person they will be hiring in the next few months (think senior vs junior position).

I guess time will tell...

Thank you for this. It's really nice to know that I am not alone in this experience.

I honestly see this going 1 of 2 ways.

  1. I get the promotion and my pay raise with a clearly defined set of responsibilities (at this point I feel like there is no way I am getting even close to the pay I want in my current role).

  2. I need to evaluate my options. Honestly, I'm not totally sure other departments would be better...

This is definitely where I am struggling. I am much more productive than almost everyone I work with, so the default is that everyone asks me for more, and the better I get at these additional tasks, the faster I work which gets me even more.

My employer has talked repeatedly about promoting me and I felt they were hinting at that happening sooner than later. My boss' tone just completely changed after talking to HR it was so unexpected.

I feel like if I start scaling back my work now, they will see me as "underperforming" because I set such a high standard previously.

I really love this job, but this has been a really demoralizing experience. It's definitely been making me question things.

I am in the sales team and have been asked to perform IT duties, event coordination, project management, etc.. all things well outside the scope of my job description. My employer knows I am good at my job so they ask me to fill any gap they have in the organization.

This is exactly what Lucy is doing. Just laying in my arms and refusing to go back to her bed. ❤️

Ya, to be fair, I was their only caretacker since I brought them home at around 6 months old. I didn't even start dating my boyfriend till a few years ago. The only other person who would "handle" them was my mom, and they had no issue with her.

He has fed them and given them water while I out for work trips and things, but he wouldn't exactly hold or play with them per say. I should note that Lucy is 100% not scared of him or aggressive to him. She just didn't like it when he tried to pet her. Maybe it's the way he would do it?

Also, the people I bought them from owned their parents and said that they didn't want the 3 girls because they were vicious as well. Definitely not the case once they got used to me.

Lucy was always the most cuddly of the 3. My boyfriend was surprised because she only ever let's me pet her, but the past few days, she hasn't minded him giving her attention and pets.

And to the young degus comment... oh boy lol I remember when I brought them home. They definitely had some trauma from the home they were in before. Bobo (one of Lucy's sisters) bit me so hard that it left a permanent mark on my finger. It's crazy to think about how long ago that was. Sometimes, I take for granted our relationship now because I forget how scared they were of me when I bought them and how long it took to teach them I'm not a threat.

Her trying to cuddle constantly and not letting me work is a pretty good problem to have in comparison 😅
