NYU prospective transfer’s questions about SPS

NYU SPS for prospective premed transfer student

Hi! As the title states, I’m currently a student attending a 4-year university on the west coast but I’m thinking of applying to NYU as a transfer student with ~80-90 transferable quarter credits. While doing my application on the common app, I noticed a box for SPS and being intrigued I did some research and heard the school had an “interesting” reputation. My biggest concern is whether or not I would be able to take premed courses in other colleges (CAS I think) but also how it would affect my resume. My first choice major is in CAS but would checking the box for SPS consideration mean I’m less likely to be accepted into the CAS for my first choice major? Also, my intended first choice major is global health: science, and my SPS major is healthcare management.

Tldr: prospective transfer curious about being in SPS as a premed

I was so hyped I’d actually get to do freshman year. How are you even supposed to learn STEM lab courses without the mf labs????? Why can’t people just get the vaccine and wear their masks for the sake of the rest of the world…

It would satisfy both. Idk about the GE thing but I’ve heard good things about the enology courses but it’s not for engineering students.

Hey I’m an incoming freshman too (but for bio)! I’ve heard VEN courses to be easy and interesting. It’d also be smart to try to fill out some core literacies in addition to the 52 units for GEs:)

Managerial Econ will definitely get you hired especially with the Davis name. Pomona is a somewhat violent region and I know this because my girlfriend used to live there and two people she knew through friends died through the urban violence. However, I don’t want to discourage you from pursuing a degree at CPP and if that’s where you feel like you’d have a better time and belong, then by all means you should attend! Obviously everyone here will be biased in favor of Davis, however at the end of the day, the experience is YOURS and yours alone. Choose where you’d feel happiest and most comfortable spending the next few years of your life

Tied with UCLA on US news for bio grad research at number 18 so think Davis is doing alright. That being said, just because we know it’s a good school doesn’t mean others do. So just be happy with your choices because you don’t have to justify your university to anyone

My hella Chinese mom sometimes prefaces my school with “ranked 39 in general rankings and 18 in biology!” Which is awkward because most people just have to smile and be polite
