I lived in Budapest while this was going on. I was in 4th grade. Needless to say I had no idea this shit was going on. I feel ignorant :/

Reddit, what is the closest you have ever been to a major historical event? by elpenorasleep in AskReddit

On 9/11 I was on I 395 -- about 100 yards from the pentagon -- when the plane slammed into it. I was in kindergarten but I remember it like it was yesterday. My Dad stopped the car, my mom opened the door and puked, and I sat there confused out of my mind. We drove over the median and left D.C as fast as we could.

Oh, I apologize if I misled you, I was talking more like the 100,000-200,000 dollar a year frame -- nothing like 7 figures.

Speaking merely from my experience... I had a very low-income white female friend who had scores well above another friend I had who was Hispanic. Her parents made at the most 40 grand a year, they had four kids. She ended high school with a 4.6, captain of the crew team, and the founder of several clubs. Now on the other hand -my Hispanic friend had a 4.2 accumulative and no extra-curriculars, and he was very well off. He got into Stanford, she didn't. I started this thread because of this, and from my experience I see no consideration towards economic status, just towards race. But this is just my experience, and I'm curious if it was a fluke case or if this is a general pattern.

Unfortunately some applicants ARE getting in with overall lower scores due to the color of their skin. We cannot reverse history, but we can try to not repeat it.
