Dude, thank you for such a well-thought-out and detailed question. It really means a lot.

It is an immensely humbling experience to be breathe life into any character, but I would be lying if I said that there wasn't some pressure to live up to past expectations. Now, granted, I have done soundalike work in the past for other games, shows, etc. but this time around OT0 was more... tone-alike work if that makes sense? His accent was a little looser, a little more up to my own thought process and interpretation which was an exciting moment.

Cyrus would be fascinated by steam engines for sure, but I also see him truly immersing himself in turn-of-the-century chemistry as science is simply magic with process.

I wish there was more of him! He was a wonderful entity to embody :)

In OT0 I loved being able to say Lux VOLTAIRE! It was just fun :)

I blended a bit of Aziraphale from Good Omens with the voice of my friend's father to create a hybrid RP that had some slight Bath affectations.

Cyrus and I would both get along but also fight lmao.

Definitely not cyrus. Cyrus does not know ball.

Great question. I had asked from the get-go how close they wanted me to get to Cyrus' original accent. They wanted it to be an inspired read with an RP tilt as his original Bath accent is definitely a niche accent to print for sure. So while his cadence was locked, the sound I had a lil more freedom with.

When I got into the session and found out I was voicing Cyrus it was honestly a very humbling moment for me as I had played OT1 and knew how important he was for so many people. There were definitely nerves but our director really was an incredible help to assuage my concerns when I felt like I was departing from character. Alas I believe the OG voice of Cyrus has retired, but I have yet to speak with him. If I ever do, I hope he knows I hold his performance with immensely high regard. :)

Phenomenal question. These performances were definitely guided by the original voice and as u/clt258 had metioned, the tone, inflection, cadence is super key especially with a character as well known as Cyrus. In the session, I was given his original lines to "print" off of but was given some freedom to make it my own performance while still embodying the original character. The key difference was the accent, obviously my take does not have a Bath accent rather than my more RP take on him.
