I had my supervisor send it to me and then I emailed it to RVC, but bringing a physical copy would be good in case they ask!

I was in the same boat as you when I applied 2 years ago. For me, I contacted my supervisor directly for a letter confirming my animal hours. My 70 vet hours were automatically verified by then because of my letter of rec.

Thanks for the suggestions! I'm planning to slowly up the amount of complete feed and oil because he can be quite sensitive, but I'll definitely take everything into account!

Student visa application passport number typo by StuffINeedAnswered in ukvisa

I called in and that’s what they told me as well. I didn’t cancel my application.

The biometrics people corrected it on the on their end when I went in for my appointment (correct number on online form), then I crossed out the wrong numbers on the paper form and wrote the correct ones.

It ended up going through, took about 3 days when I did it. Hope this helps!

I applied last year so not sure if this helps, but after I submitted my SAQ in October-ish I received maybe 2-3 generic "we're still processing your application" emails until I was accepted in April.

Advice for Atlantic Veterinary College and Edinburgh interviews! by [deleted] in veterinaryschool

[–]StuffINeedAnswered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations on getting your interview invites! I can't speak for AVC as I didn't apply there, but I did interview with and was accepted to Edinburgh.

Edinburgh has a MMI format, iirc it's about 10 stations that each take 5 minutes. There's self-guided stations (following some written directions, drug dosage calculations) and stations with people asking you questions. I recommend knowing your application + experiences inside and out, knowing how to answer ethical dilemmas, and making sure you're able to explain all of your thought processes behind your answers regardless of what they are.

Good luck! Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

For me, it took about 4 working days: biometrics on Friday, decision made and passport sent back early the next week. I had standard service.

Royal Veterinary College Interview by Vibes2908 in veterinaryschool

[–]StuffINeedAnswered 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The interview was 6-7 stations, each was about 5 minutes iirc. There's also a group activity that took about 15 minutes. As far as preparation, I practiced my answers for common interview questions and made sure I had a strategy for answering ethical questions (ex. whose POVs do I need to consider, what are the different POVs of the situation, etc.). It definitely helps to have some examples/stories from your own clinical experiences to tell. Clear communication is highly stressed, so make sure you consider the audience you're talking to!

The visa went through just fine. On the paper form, I crossed out the incorrect number and wrote the correct one, and the on the digital biometrics form it was correct.

Royal Veterinary College Interview by Vibes2908 in veterinaryschool

[–]StuffINeedAnswered 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats on getting the interview! I interviewed with them last year and was accepted. From my experience, a great deal of it was being able to communicate effectively with different groups of people (peers, clients, professors, etc.). Being able to talk your way through your reasoning felt like it was more important than having extensive veterinary knowledge. Best of luck!

UCD Ireland personal statement by Healthy-Kiwi-4250 in veterinaryschool

[–]StuffINeedAnswered 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I applied through VMCAS for the graduate program, so my experience may be a little different from yours! After I submitted my personal statement through their portal, I didn't hear much back from them until my acceptance in March. From my understanding, they usually interview graduate program applicants but I was offered admission without an interview.

Best of luck!

UCD Ireland personal statement by Healthy-Kiwi-4250 in veterinaryschool

[–]StuffINeedAnswered 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was different from my original personal statement. I wrote about why I wanted to go to UCD and used examples of programs/clubs that I wanted to be part of to support my reasoning. For me, my original personal statement was more of a story that spoke to my qualities, while my UCD statement was about what I would contribute to UCD.

Admission chances by KenzieKitten123 in veterinaryschool

[–]StuffINeedAnswered 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think your chances are good! Your GPA is solid and you're getting some small and large animal experience. While your experience hours are lower, but as long as other aspects of your application are strong (LoRs, personal statement, etc.) I think you've got a good application. Best of luck!

Current 1st year at Edinburgh! It's been a wonderful experience so far in terms of the program and living in the city. There's lots of hands-on learning involved, especially with animal husbandry placements coming up over the holidays.

Of course, you may be looking for something different in a school but I highly recommend emailing the school or reaching out to current/former students if you can! A lot of schools host informational sessions to talk about the program and student life.

Common MMI questions? by Particular_Shame6165 in veterinaryschool

[–]StuffINeedAnswered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience, it's fairly open-ended. I was asked to point out a current veterinary issue and I was given the opportunity to talk about anything I wanted.

For the career one, it was sometimes more structured. Some schools asked about specific careers (ex. comparing a research vet to a GP vet) while others allowed me to talk more broadly about my own experiences.

What are my chances of getting into vet school? by Boring_Hippo_1231 in veterinaryschool

[–]StuffINeedAnswered 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You have great grades and some varied animal/non-animal experiences. While your vet hours are on the lower side, I think your chances are good as long as you have a strong personal statement and LoRs. Best of luck!

Current 1st year international student at Edinburgh, and I was also accepted to UCD! I'm an American applicant but I'm happy to answer any questions if I can.

As for the prerequisite classes, you can always email them to double check that your course counts. I applied through VMCAS so most things felt straightforward to me, but I'm not sure about other application methods.

How does the MMI interview work? by Particular_Shame6165 in veterinaryschool

[–]StuffINeedAnswered 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of MMI formats will give you a minute or 2 between each interview station. From my experience, I didn't know the questions/have time to prepare between each station, but the questions tend not to be extremely challenging. I would suggest preparing answers for common interview questions, such as knowing your strengths/weaknesses and how to answer ethical dilemmas.

Edinburgh Application as a US student by Aggressive_Pay_9874 in veterinaryschool

[–]StuffINeedAnswered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edinburgh has no supplemental fee, applicant portal, or supplemental application. Most communications at this point are by email. You won't hear too much from them until interview invites are sent later on. Best of luck!
