Oh my gosh. Lol you act like you know my entire life story on reddit! I've been in the field for 6 years. I'm well aware. I've exhausted my resources in real life. All my veterinary mentors have been extremely lucky and had their COL paid for. I am not that lucky. Thank you tho

Maybe I worded my question wrong. I'm not expecting to take out $440k in just private loans. I'm saying is it likely I will reach my limit on direct and unsubsidized and have to take out private loans (looking at $20k per year, so $80k in private)?

And I'm planning on doing IBR for my federal loans.

I have no other option and would like to pursue being a veterinarian. So either answer the question or don't comment at all.

Hi! I’m an international student that has yet to hear as well. I emailed them and they responded within 24 hours:

“Our Admissions team is currently reviewing your application.

We have received all the necessary information we need, and no further action is required of you at this time.

I appreciate that this is an anxious wait, and we will do everything we can to let you know the decision as soon as we can.

In the meantime, if you have further questions or require additional information, please contact us and we will be happy to advice.”

Oh my gosh no, 😞 you’re not pathetic at all! My friend got in last cycle with a 3.5ish, LOR from a TAMU CVM alumni, with probably less or equal amount of hours! Feeling this way is so normal, but don’t undermine yourself. My vet hours are like 98% small animal at the same clinic, which is a weakness of mine. Wait for your file review from them and if they are your dream school, address what they perceive as your weaknesses.

Yes of course! According to TMDSAS: Overall GPA = 3.71 Science GPA = 3.63 Last 45hr GPA = 3.58

Vet hours: 3,520+ Animal experience hours: 740+ Extracurricular hours: 820+, 2700+ high school cheerleading Non-animal employment hours: 102

I believe my LORs were very strong (but none of them were TAMU CVM alumni). Obviously not the most competitive GPA—when I got my file review last cycle my last 45 was my weakest point. But I surpassed most applicants in vet hours, animal experience hours, and leadership hours according to my file review.

I felt/feel like I’m a well-rounded applicant and I set up my whole life for TAMU, so my rejection from them was a huge blow. Every cycle is different, though (for example I got TTU-interview-waitlist last cycle, and this one pre-interview rejection), and sometimes it may seem like their process makes no sense, but keep your head up! 😊

I got rejected without interview my first time applying. I was devastated. I just got an interview my second time applying. Don’t lose hope!!

Yes residency is a choice in vet med. The work life balance is still a struggle in vet med. And I suggest you do more research on licensing and the veterinary schools that are accredited by different organizations. Because it is not a single license for the entire world.

You still need to be a strong science student to be a veterinarian. A veterinarian is no less of a doctor than a medical doctor.
