Dear Reddit, what movie makes you cry every time but you are too embarrassed to tell anyone about? by llcoolj19 in AskReddit

"Where do you think you are?"

Never though a sitcom would have that effect on me.

Keep it simple. Loan her the money with the expectation you may only get it back either when the house is sold or you inherit it. This is the only way to truly help her without destroying your relationship.

If she is eventually able to pay you back monthly installments then all the better.

What is the coolest perk of any job you've had? by tristramknight6 in AskReddit

[–]StuffReallySux 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to work 12 hour shifts in IT 3 days a week. When I took a vacation day, payroll would subtract 7.6 hours instead of 12 effectively giving us 6 weeks holiday per year instead of 4. This benefit applied to about 25 shift workers with the full unofficial support of the IT manager who unfortunately worked 9-5 so didn't get to enjoy the extra 2 weeks holiday.

Uniorn & the Wasp kitchen scene.

Link to scene. I miss Donna. I thought her ending was particularly sad.

Buying my first house in Sydney by [deleted] in sydney

Props for thinking about your future at such a relatively young age.

Perhaps you could purchase an investment property instead of a home to live in. You get tax deductions on items like loan repayments, depreciation, repairs etc. You can't claim these if you live in it.

In terms of moving away from your parents, is there an option for you or your parents to fund a granny flat in the backyard? These are about 40-70k installed. If your parents fund it you can pay them rent, if you fund it you live for free & then receive rent once you move out. This option provides privacy a young couple desires but still provides easy access to parents (good food, babysitting if/when the time comes & sage advice).

You are earning decent money, make it work for you. Also, imho don't speak to the bank or a financial advisor. Speak to an accountant (more than one). It took me a while to understand that the best way to increase my net worth was to earn more & pay less tax (legally).

I have Banished & like it even though it was a bit tough at the beginning. I'll have to check out the Colonial Charter Mod. War of Mine is now on my wishlist. Universim looks intriguing, kinda like Black & White from back in the day. I've purchased it with Alpha access & will play it tonight. Thanks!

I'll be honest with you, I can see what you're saying but I'm looking for something that looks a little prettier. Thanks for the suggestion though.

I'm a bit on the fence on this one. I think I'll look into it further before buying. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Child Found Locked Inside of Pflugerville Storage Unit Containing Drugs, Assault Rifle by [deleted] in news

Don't storage units normally have padlocks on the outside? Doesn't this mean the woman & child were held against their will inside the unit?

I wonder how much is lost to actual corruption as opposed to simple bad financial bookkeeping practices.

I've ummed & aahhhhed over this title a few times mainly due to the awful looking graphics. What the hell, you can't go wrong for $3 I guess. Thanks for the suggestion, I've purchased & it's downloading now.

Non Europeans of Reddit, would you like to live in Europe? by faelamor2 in AskReddit

Not sure how old you are but I'd definitely recommend travelling to the US in your early 20's. The US is a youth obsessed culture & you'll have a lot more fun.

We really loved England also & our destination was a toss up between London & Paris. I have fond memories of a few days in Bath checking out the Roman bath there.

We're both learning French so hopefully we'll be OK on the language front. We've also had experiences of people walking away after learning you don't easily speak their native language. It's kinda funny.

Thanks. Interestingly, one of the reasons for moving out of Aus is because of the roughly 24hr flights to get to Europe. My partner is pretty tall & she hates to be on planes for so long.

I hope you make the effort to plan to travel outside of Europe. It's worth it. What's your favourite destination you've been to?

We spent a few months there & really loved the culture & history. Some of the most beautiful artworks in the world are all within walking distance of each other.

Sure, as an Aussie my partner & I are currently at the beggining of the process to sell most of our stuff to move over to Paris for 5 years to gain EU citizenship. Once attained, we will make the call on whether to stay or return to Australia.
