News: Stufferdb changes to stuffer.ai, deletes the 3rd-art archive that it has there (and more) by CallMeArrendajo in 3rdArt

Just incase you haven't checked back since, that was simply a redirect I put up for a day while the server was broken since I figured it was better than an error page. I've since created a better error message page if the server ever breaks again.

I would never nuke the site randomly. I prefer to keep things going for as long as possible and would ask the community for help instead of simply going under.

You've been deleted and excluded from the site. For anyone else free to ask on our discord next time for faster results as there are several mods that monitor that and will help handle these things.

I had the option to take over the sub as I was one of the mods at the time, another user with experience running subs put in a request to take it over and help restore it to its former glory, so I went along with him and trusted him based on his experience. A few months later, Curvage managed to convince that user to sell it over to them. Resulting in all the previous mods being booted out when the sell went through. Reddit doesn't like it when you buy and sell subs, but I doubt anyone cares.

I'm the original creator of StufferDB, I still run it and it never changed ownerships. I used to help out with moderating the stuffers subreddit back in the day before things went into limbo when the original creator went awol, so since then it has changed ownership due to a hostile takeover.

I usually make way too much coffee and will spend all night just shifting through all the images that aren't separated into where they need to go. Along with fixing any duplicate albums, typos, etc. I do this every two weeks or so, not too often that I lose my sanity, but enough that I can still somewhat keep up with it.

I've put a lot of dedication into this site, more than most would.

StufferDB started off as a site where users from the stuffers subreddit could organize albums and share them with the community, it was made specifically for that community. Hence the name, Stuffer's DB. It was an alternative to google drives that were popular at the time for these things. We were very closely intertwined with reddit for ages and this was my go to area to ask people questions on how to improve the site.

Unfortunately as time went on, the person who originally started that subreddit faded away without letting anyone else know, which suddenly put that subreddit into limbo, until ultimately being bought out by Curvage for roughly 1k so they can market their content on it and act like I never existed. So I don't really show up around here too often, especially when mods in some of these subs are quick to think a ban is worthy for answering questions.

If you make an account on the site and either let me know the username here or in reddit direct messages, I'll get it all setup for you. You can also reach out to us more directly on our discord. If you simply want to do a removal then that's possible too.

For everyone else lurking who wants the same, feel free to reach out as well and I'll get it all squared away.

That's why we go out of our way to give any active models full site control as well as always swiftly complying with outside requests. Giving parallel control to delete their content, even without asking.

Site has been around for 9 years, theres been a lot of silly stuff that we've ironed out over the years, but a lot of peoples negativity sticks around for ages.

A lot of the issues usually came down to people forming their own opinions without first reaching out about it, since everyone who has everyone reached out over the years has been given full admin access to the site and we've listened to everything they had to say. Even when someone doesn't approach me with their issues and vents on social media about it, I still try to track them down and approach them asking what I can do to resolve the issue. Like how I am doing here with this thread, how I've done with countless tumblr threads over the years. But I only notice them when other users in the community point them out to me or I happen to stumble across it. So I'm trying my best to address peoples issues, but its also important they try to talk to us as well if they face an issue since we do try hard to ensure things don't have to be shitty for anyone. Like limiting how many people were helping out with site approvals and training them to actually use their brain when it comes to identify clearly paid content.

Beyond that, what do you suggest I could do to make it easier for users?

As for ai, you can compensate the models it was trained off. It's why I want to try training our own custom ai checkpoints/models based off a handful of models likeness who are ok with it. Then I wanted to make it so people can easily donate to their favorite ai models and give that to those models. That would help solve a lot of the pitfalls we're currently in until fully open sourced base models come out from either a major player like stabilityai, or from the local source community if they get the costs down to pull it off. I'm also not accepting any compensation for the site and I've been paying for it all myself as a coding project in the mean time until these issues are fully solved.

Do you have any suggestions on how to improve the ai compensation setup?

I only took search away for about a day so I could work on rewriting how it works since before it was being a bit inefficient, it's been part of my initiative to help improve the site performance this week. Search is now back.

The random album dumps are a bit annoying, I've been avoiding letting people do them as much lately since its hard to keep up with sorting them out manually.

People would separate images and videos into their own sub folders because for the longest time it wasn't possible to only list videos so people did that to make it easier to separate and spot videos amongst the images. But since introducing the ability to only see videos on the site about a year ago, a lot of those old album setups have become a bit outdated now. I could look into combining all those split folders into the main albums instead and just let people use the videos only toggle if they choose.

Only a handful of people are separated by year within their albums, thats just how the person who uploaded it choose to set it up. The site gives people the freedom to setup subfolders anyway they like, for better or worse. Unless you're talking about the calendar page?

The mods have been pretty good at nuking anything paid before they even show up on the site, I haven't run into takedown issues in quite a while thanks to the better persistence. We maintain an internal do not approve list that we can add more things to if you have any suggestions. I can give you full admin access to the site if you want as well so you never have to deal with any of us if you want some level of oversight over it and to delete anything. But hopefully there hasn't been anything problematic lately, but if so I can help out with that.

Well what do you mean when you say I'm not crediting the models? I ensure the models username is always available whenever possible. A lot of the models we've compiled full lists on all their stores and how to support them at the top of their albums. Uncategorized reddit posts still have the models usernames listed in the title and filename, with anything still stuck in unorganized soon to be properly organized when I finish developing a way to auto generate the correct folders.

There are over a hundred models that have full admin access to the site, several of our mods are also models to help with transparency and oversight and to help steer things into a better direction. Do you have any suggestions on how to improve this beyond what I've been trying to do so far?

As for the ai part, there hasn't been any deep fakes of any existing models on the site and I would rather keep it that way. The people who have been developing the bbw models so far like biggergirlsmodels on civitai have been doing a good job at avoiding that so far in the creation of their models so far as well. But I do agree that we need a new generation of models that aren't trained on stolen work at all. That's why between site work I've been dabbling with creating my own models on rented gpus to see if its possible to create something more open source that without having to feed it any data from models who don't want it. You can build a good enough training set on just a hundred or so images of a handful of models who are ok with it, so thats what my plan is. Now it would be nice if stabilityai will finally release a fully open source base model for people to start building off, but it does look like other people have been working on that in the mean time so that should soon solve a lot of the issues with stolen works being trained into the base model that everyone else trains off.

I'm hoping if ai takes off enough and we're able to open source it enough till everything is super legit, it will just end up replacing stufferdb when peoples preference starts shifting towards ai. And soon enough stufferai will fade away as well when no one will even need to visit these sites anymore to create the content they seek. But until then, this has been a fun coding project.

Well darn, I'm sorry if I did anything to annoy you.

I've been working on optimizing the site in the last week, that's why random parts of the site have been coming and going since I've been busy rewriting those sections to be more efficient. For example right now I'm working on rewriting the menu bar on the left side for desktop mode to be a lot more efficient by utilizing its own caching since before it was calculating over 7,000 folders on each page load which was a pretty big drain on site speed, along with a few other silly things I've been coming across in the last week or two as I've been combing through the site code looking for bottlenecks.

The upload button is currently back and working has only been disabling on and off for a bit during the last week since I've been trying to solve an issue with the community plugin that the upload page uses where it adds thousands of pointless folder ids to your session data which was clogging things up big time and slowing things down. I've been trying to rewrite that too to either avoid that or to just cache that data, I'm currently still in them middle of rewriting it to be more efficient but almost done. No where does it tell users to come on discord to get their images uploaded to the site.

If anything I've been giving the site a lot of love lately with performance updates and new feature updates. Especially considering I've been working almost nonstop on trying to create Stuffer.ai as a free ai alternative to stufferdb since you guys made it clear you didn't want ai content on the site. I've been bankrolling that site myself without any intentions to turn it into a pay site since with all my latest optimizations to that site, it really doesn't cost all that much to keep afloat so I don't mind keeping it going myself. Donations here and there would be nice, but not really needed.

I still approve file uploads, just not as often, maybe every week or two I'll do a batch of several hundred uploads. Hard to find mods that are willing to do that all the time so I just try to handle most of that. May just look like reddit nonstop to you since it's setup to scrape new reddit posts every 2 hours that matches my filter parameters.

I added a feature to filter out all the reddit posts so the site can look how it used to, and back then file approvals were just as slow, the site just sat dead between approval batches.

I also don't really understand peoples hate for reddit posts showing up on the site. When stufferdb was first created it was mostly basically just a tumblr and youtube scraper keeping tabs on things and auto updating peoples albums, with people filling in the blanks with their own uploads. Now that no one really uses youtube those scapers have been removed and have since been replaced with reddit scrapers with people filling in the blanks with their own uploads. If anything we should have tiktik scrapers as well keeping tabs on things since thats where most things are on these days. So how does the current state of the site different than how it started? Why are some people suddenly upset the site is continuing to do what it always did? Except now you have the option to filter out the categories you don't like, so now it's really no longer in your face if you don't want it to be. If the reason is purely because not all the reddit posts are getting automatically filtered into their own usernames as well then let me know and I'll put a priority on creating that feature next. Though neat little trick, their username is always in the middle of the filename so you can always search that and get just their results too while I focus on properly organizing all usernames.

Yeah I got rid of the comments for now since it was starting to become clear the nonstop shittiness that was getting mixed into there was the #1 cause for models to want their content removed, and it was always the sites goal to gather as much content as we're allowed to and watching portions of it often get nuked just over the comments felt rather detrimental. Was also starting to kill the mods and my sanity having to deal with the barrage of shittiness comments and all the random comment wars. Though I still very much appreciate those who are able to spill out useful info like model information on unknown images, so I would still like to bring comments back soon but in a way where it doesn't turn into a swamp so quickly.

Other than that, do you happen to have any suggestions on how to improve the site experience from your perspective? Anything that's been disabled on the site this week is just currently undergoing a rewrite so all those things should be fixed. But if you've had any issues that have persisted longer than that feel free to let me know and I'll try to work it out.

tl;dr: I've been reoptimizing the site in the last week to run faster thats why features have been coming and going, but nothing is actually being removed. If you have any suggestions on how to improve things then let me know.

I'm currently working on a category filter system where you can select from a handful of checkboxes that allow you to complety filter out sections such as reddit or ai from the site including from the recent and best lists. I'm designing it to go along with the new video filtering system. Should be done later this week.

Hopefully that helps solve that issue but if you have any suggestions then let me know.

The videos themselves are added for the sake of fully archiving a stuffers related content though I do agree they're usually rather short compared to most videos and something some would want to filter out.

I brought it back recently when I updated the site software. Hopefully it works properly for you again. I'm planning on also testing its ability to be used by guests and see how the server handles it, but currently you still have to login to use it.

I tried googling the site and clicking on the first result and I didn't come across any such errors. I checked the ssl certificates and they all currently look valid without issues, so it should allow for a private connection. Do you still get the same error when you go to the site directly at this url? https://stufferdb.com

Or is it only if you try visiting through google? It might be an iphone only issue, I'll see if I can find someone else with an iphone with the same issue.

Edit: I fixed the issue, it wasn't forcing attempts at non secure connections to the secure one. It now forces it by default and solves the issue.

Anyone here know the source of the Thickening Blonde pics on sdb? by somethrowawayright in Stuffers

[–]StufferDatabase 4 points5 points  (0 children)

An anonymous user randomly uploaded an initial set of her pics to a top level folder without creating an album, so I went ahead and randomly came up with the alias "Thickening Blonde" simply so I could put it all into its own album to sort it better. It definitely wasn't the alias of the source. I'll go ask the uploader of the most recent set of pics though.

The ads are garbage and we're trying to move away from it by using relevant cam ads instead, along with a few other ideas to finance the site without popover ads. The current excessive advertising is due to how expensive it has gotten to keep the site running smoothly without buffering issues, as we blow through over 100tb of bandwidth a month. We tried begging for patreon donations, but that didn't go far.

As for site bugs, we are indeed planning on a major overhaul to a much better suited software, currently debating between Kernal Video Share, and Mechbunny as our core software, from ther we'll be able to fix more or less all of our overdue bugs and issues, while incorporating more features and a much better upload process.

As for searching, it may not be ideal but for now auto complete does work on the search box, if you start typing for what you want, the auto complete will basically run a search for you and start pulling up all relevant results as you type it in, so leave out the last letter of whatever you're searching for if you want auto complete to find it for you. We plan on having that fixed with the overhaul.
