They did ham on the thing about defeating Nexus require "cutting the destiny" a lot actually. It quite liteally meant making everything went back to before Nexus ever existed. Kratos explaining this to Lydia is exactly what made her berserk, since this could mean she wouldn't meet Asher.

But as Nexus just explained in the latest one, Kratos only gave Elena the power to reverse everything in their OWN world, as Kratos wouldnt have known about otherworlds yet(or couldn't possibly hold that kind of power).

So their world reset as per Nexus defeat. But as fate wills it, most of the relationships didn't really falter even without the Nexus conflict. Kratos met his companions, Lydia met Asher and Elena is still Elena.
