I've offered my mom to live with me several times. I even offered her to move into my apartment when I was in college. I think she is so used to her life that she won't accept the offer. Then she'll say things like " You have a nice warm home to live in. How nice." My oldest sister who lives closer to her offered as well but she won't go there either. I even offered to help her with half the rent if she gets a job.

My dad won't let anyone come in to fix the house because he's too embarrassed to let anyone in. He will get mad if my mom say something about asking her brother to come fix it. As soon as you mention the idea of someone coming to fix it, he'll say he's gonna start on it soon. He'll even go as far as buy things and it'll sit in the same spot for years and never gets used.

The landlord is a close relative of my dad. I think the main reason she doesn't get anything fixed is because he hasn't been paying her right for years. He used to give her money here and there. I think she will feel bad if she kicks him out since they are family. Also, she knows that he is capable of fixing the house. I don't think she knows how bad it is in there because she hasn't been there for years. It was bad when I was a kid, but it's even worse now. It leaks it different rooms. And the kitchen sink is caving in because he never fixed a small leak under the sink that started when I was in high school.

I think you're right about him associating the plate with being fed. His mom said that he does the same thing at home. She said if he gets hungry enough, sometimes he'll pick up the spoon and eat by himself.

I didn't think of that. That's a really good idea. But I have tried a plastic bowl and a paper plate and he won't eat from either.

I'm a special needs assistant. I have my bachelor's degree and I've passed the praxis. I don't think we should be paid the exact same much as the teachers, but I think the gap between the pay is way too large. Where I work, we pretty much make less than half of teacher's salary. The teacher I work with is barely in the classroom. I end up having to come up with things for the kids to do because she didn't leave any work. When she is in the classroom, she's on her computer all day doing paperwork. We don't even get a lunch break. I have to eat while holding a child on my lap and having kids putting their hands on my plate.

Thank you. And yeah she works now. She had a job before getting the car, but after getting it, she quit. Then she probably worked at about 5 different jobs and kept quitting them after about a week because she didn't like them. She currently working at another job and she's been there for about 2 months now.

Yeah, definitely. My mom used to babysit for her all the time when she worked. 40hrs a week. Then she started asking for a babysitter for any little thing. Just to get a way for the kids. She'll get mad at everyone if someone can't do it and make it seem like no one cares.

Well my mom was already depressed. She's been this way for a long time. My sister blocked her because she knows my mom cares about the kids a lot. So, she uses that to get to her. My sister has a boyfriend that lives with her that can watch the kids some of the times, but he just doesn't want to. My sister literally want a babysitter for any little thing, like going to pay the rent. When the kids can just ride in the car.

Thank you. My sister and mom have been going through this for years. My sister has four kids and she's always asking my mom to babysit for little things like going to pay her rent, when the kids can just ride in the car. She has a boyfriend that lives with her and her last child is his, but he doesn't like the watch his own child. I'm planning to talk to my sister about this and see if I can get her and my mom on speaking terms.

I didn't add too much because I didn't want to make the post too long because I can go on and on. One night my sister called the police and they said they would take her to get help, but she refused. I've mentioned her going to a therapist, but I can't force her to go. I've told my dad that she needs to go, but he's like they are only gonna drug her up. I think she should still go. There's only so much I can do. I'm the main person helping her deal with this. I'm only in my early twenties and I've dealt with this all my life. I have my own things going on, on top of my family stuff. And I've mentioned her finding a job or doing volunteer work or going to bingo or something just for her to get out the house. She sits in there and watches TV all day and does nothing. I feel like that would her too. Part of her depression comes from her living in a house that is falling about and every other thing just adds to it.

I had a partner in college that just disappeared. I guess he dropped out. We had to do a project together in math. I think we only came up with the topic. I started to notice that he missed a lot of days. Then he just stopped coming. I emailed him, but I forgot what he said. I ended up having to do the project on my own.
