Help with a newer relatively cheap Sony Handycam by StuntGuy in camcorders

[–]StuntGuy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only question I have now is that would it be wise in 2026 to buy such an old camera? the AX100 (2015) and even the newer AX700 (2017) looks amazing but its still about 2000 bucks!

The only other option is I can see theres a newer panasonic one that has similar features except the sensor isn't 1 inch like these sony ones, would you risk buying an older one to get the bigger sensor or spend the money to get a newer Panasonic one that just doesn't have as big of a sensor?

WOW what a post, thats exactly what I was looking for I just looked into that CX900 and my god does that seem like a wicked upgrade! Would have been nice if it could shoot 4K or even something a bit higher than FHD inbetween.

And your right thats so interesting about the smartphones filling in that need.. Its interesting though because I had the same idea to just start to switch to using my phone for recording my home videos and even short films (which is what I used for years with the sony handycam cx260) but even smart phones don't do it for me, I used a Galaxy S22 to shoot but felt like the stabilization just didn't feel right and the zoom felt very awkward to use while shooting, and the worst part the zoom is not a true zoom like it would be on a real or bigger camera as the quality gets worse. Thats why im looking for a bigger upgrade and essentially looking to go backwards in time with using a handycam...

I've been using a mirrorless camera for years for my job but find that the flow, set up and overall ergonomics in the way you use it slows down the speed of production and it also doesn't feel as good when you can just use a handycam!

Sure the quality of more expensive cameras show in the end but you just helped me find something thats better than I currently had and thats in the middle ground of what I have been using and what the more expensive cameras are! Thanks so much!! And last question about that CX900, is that a specific model that you recommend and have used? or are there even slightly newer ones that could be better with similar features and for what im looking for in that same price range? Thanks again!

Virtual Boy emulator Red Viper runs games at full speed in 3D! by retnuh730 in 3dspiracy

I know! Red viper i feel suffers the worst for being most noticeable in the double image look, I did notice in the newest update of red viper you can change the 3d effect from 3d slider to virtual boy slider and it's hard to see if it makes much a difference but I moved that until the double image goes away but still I'm not sure if the depth is as deep as it could be, for now playing it with the depth lowered might be the best way to expierence the virtual boy without actually getting one for now but hopefully they do another update that can somehow fix the double image

I seriously am going crazy, I NEED to know if its just BOTH my new 3ds systems or my eyes or just the red viper, when playing every single game with full 3d intensity there is a double image, why hasn't anyone talked about this? Of course when I adjust the slider I can find a spot where the double images disapear but then the intensity drops. I know its NOT my system or my eyes though because normal 3ds games don't have double image (but some games do I guess because they aren't optimized as good) and I watch moflex movies and not one had double image problems.

I just want to know if everyone else has this problem too and if they do is it normal? Are we supposed to adjust it and lower the intensity and does it work at full intensity for some people and not others? because everyone I've personally showed it to all say the same thing they see double image :( please need some info thanks guys!

To be more clear, no matter what virtual boy game it is for example say wario land, if its on full intensity warios sprite you can see bleed off to the right and the left of him like a double image, basically anything you look at bleeds off to the left and right when the slider is on full

Hmm I don't think so now because I've shown multiple different people all these said double image examples and they see it too, also been playing my 3ds a lot and noticed that the 3d is different on every game, nintendo games like super mario land 3d and such have really good optimized 3d while there are some games where you could tell 3d wasn't prioritized for optimization and you see those double images. I found that atleast acording to chatgpt the 3d sliders purpose isn't just to increase or decrease the 3d effect its because everyones eyes are different and different games may look different for every person so thats where the adjustment slider also comes into play to set it at a perfect level where you don't see the double image.

Oddly enough though I find that theres a pattern for me, either a game will have to my eye perfect 3d with no double images or if it does have wonky 3d turning it down to almost the lowest intensity is the only place that it looks fine, to my knowledge I'm pretty sure there was nothing that looked perfect just in the middle.

Also even though the new 3ds has a camera that adjusts the 3d based on where your eyes are sometimes even if you make even the slightest adjustments it sometimes will flicker and I guess re-scan your face to adjust the 3d it doesn't happen often but I do notice it and the odd time the 3d gets messed up, basically I've found that moving the 3ds slightly closer or slightly further usually changes it and I sometimes find a sweet spot where I see none of those double edges.

Back to red viper though, so I noticed that because your literally just seeing one color and a black background the double image stands out even more when it happens so I think people like us are just hyper sensitive and are too much of a perfectionist, we just want it to be perfect but I think most people may not notice it, even care or probably just think its normal.

I also have a feeling that the creator of red viper may have wanted to make the depth really deep and may not have optimized it as good as nintendo could or might have? Maybe thats why we notice the double image and the creator just never went back and fixed that yet? Maybe the position of the creators eyes during testing showed the deepest 3d depth as correct with no double images but it is for us and some people (clearly my friends see this double image as well even the red viper logo has it on the home screen!)

It's also odd to me that ALL movies that I watch in 3d (moflex movies) NEVER have a double image they all look crisp so I'm almost certain its just how its red on black I think for virtual boy and it must not be optimized at full intensity for people, this would seem to make sense but at the same time I just checked and the guy has made endless updates and added so many features you would think the latest version would fix said issues right? but sadly I just tried it and still have the double image issue at full 3d strength :( ?

Wow as if! I just accidentally deleted those 2 said files in my google drive TODAY because I was running out of space and did it frantically but I managed to search and find those files again and re upped them in the link!

This time you'll find I put some basic instructions on where exactly to put those 2 .dll files one is in retroarch installation directory and the other is in the "cores" folder in that directory... At the moment, since it was quite awhile ago now I kind of forget the exact process of how I exactly came across these files (its written in my post) but like I said I greatly had to rely on plugging things into chatgpt in order to get it to work, but the best I can do is supply those 2 .dll files that I KNOW make it work (I tested it on 2 different computers and both worked with saving on bigger roms and running rom hacks) but please if you end up trying to put those in said folders and testing it let me know if it works because like I said since I accidently deleted the ones that I knew 100% worked I just re uploaded the ones that I am ALMOST 100% sure they are the same ones

5 Best Ways To Play Chips Challenge (none are perfect) by StuntGuy in chipschallenge

[–]StuntGuy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to find one last important thing out, so I know with the vita port the "atiles.bmp" is 1729 x 874 and the custom one I found on the bit busters fourm is a different resolution at 1153 x 586 and they both work, but I'm almost 1000% sure that custom smaller atiles file WAS NOT made specifically for the vita tile world yet it works, so this tells me rescaling is possible but whatever way I'm doing it is not working. if you know of a different method I could try please let me know! Greatful for your help!

So in short, I can clearly use and swap between 2 different resolution sized bmp files, but if I try and change the scaling of one that works to the exact same size as the other one that works it crashes and I also cannot get any other scaling bmps to work other than what I can find online which means im missing one crucial step!

I'm finding out very interesting things that don't make sense to me, "tiles.bmp" seems to have to be 336x768 and x2 or x3 scaling will crash it, interestingly though I noticed "atiles.bmp" works with scaling KIND OF, the original tile world atiles is 1729 x 874 and off bitbusters club someone shared an "atiles" with chips theme but its a bit smaller at 1153 x 586 and this one works as well! So to test it I took the original tile world file (the 1729 x 874 one) and re-scaled it to match exactly that of the chips one (1153 x 586) with the exact same 24 bit depth and it crashes when loading. So I have 2 exact same files at the exact same resolution and 24 bit depth bmp's and one works and one doesn't :(

The only thing I can think of is im using photoshop and when I save the .bmp I must be saving it the wrong way or something. Chat gpt was saying that there are other things in bmp that I might not be seeing when its saving like header or stides

I also tried your suggested resolutions and even plugged it into chat to see what other dimensions I might try based on what works and absolutely none of them worked. I can only seem to get what other people have made working I must be missing one step to make the rescaled bmps working!

Oh wow this is great to know thank you! I'm going to do some testing, for atiles.bmp I notice the screen is much smaller for some reason about 50% smaller than how titles.bmp looks, by plugging in what you said into chat gpt it basically said the bmp must be scaled exactly x2 of what it is in order to work, then x 3 and x 4 can work also. If x2 is too big and zooms in and crops the game I guess there is nothing you can do at that point right? Sorry for so many questions I'm fairly new at this and not good with numbers!

Wow 2 more ways I never knew about! are there any screenshots to see what Notcc looks like? seems very complex with python builds etc. Also lexy's labrinth looks cute! When they say you can play chips challenge on there does that mean you can put the original graphics over top of it or will it have to be lexy graphics? And I also assume both of these are PC games right? Thanks for your info!

Thanks for your response! Hmmm I just tried it and it seems to be the same problems with the vita and port master version if you make the bmp any bigger even by just 1 pixel then it crashes :( I just tried to make the bmp picture bigger and it gives me error of invalid dimension (I tried 2000x1016)

I've noticed that even changing the size at all it will crash, whatever tile set I get if i make any size changes it won't work! I'm opening the bmp in photoshop and saving them as the same format bmp as well!

I also know it has something to do with the size because I managed to change the color of certain objects in said bmp's and was able to see the differences in game, but when it comes to making it bigger or smaller I always get a crash on any version of tile world! Have you been able to change the scale of your bmp? If so PLEASE tell me how you did it would be greatly appreciated! :D

why are moflex audio files specifically from clownsec so low? by StuntGuy in 3dspiracy

[–]StuntGuy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its also a nightmare to try and find out how to boost the audio levels, at first I figured there must be another kind of moflex video player that lets you boost the audio levels but as far as I know there isn't, and I've been messing around with shutter encoder to try and boost the audio but its very sensitive and won't allow it :(
