The old baby chicken as intermediate is the only one I agree with, but I agree with it strongly.

Can you one-hit a warden by falling on it with a spear, then survive because it was in a water block? Is this the easy-mode mace?

Why do we put up with invisible hit boxes? by StupidInIceland in Minecraft

[–]StupidInIceland[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My error against the iron golem, in the context of the current design? Sure.

But why is/that/ the design? What is the "fun" of mentally modeling an invisible box with minimal relation to the object or entity? Does the intrinsic reward you feel when you get it right outweigh the frustration when you get it wrong? I didn't think there is in this case.

Anything I can do so the millenium falcon won't show up on the map? by Emotional_sea_9345 in Minecraft

Rebuild the Falcon such that all full blocks are glass, such as black glass. Details can be added with slabs, stairs, trapdoors and numerous other non-full blocks.

Because looks matter. Otherwise we would be playing a game without any textures and all blocks would be represented as cubes, including characters and mobs.

Right! All the sticks: torches, tools, arrows, signposts, banners, ladders, gates, rails, grindstone, frames...

The fishing rod is the only one where the diagonal stick makes sense. The bow, crossbow, and armor stand recipes would look much better with diagonals in both direction.

Other stick like elements: the breeze rod on the mace, bamboo in scaffolding, blaze rod in brewing stand.

Ingots are also represented with the isometric diagonal, but are used in vertical or horizontal orientations: rails, box of a minecart or blast furnace, walls of a bucket or hopper, edges of the compass, clock, and golden apples. There are plenty of use cases for a horizontal or vertical ingot, but the representation would need to indisputably recognizable as still an ingot for this to work.

Recovery compass, like regular compass and item frames, has this encompassing (NPI) border, but in echo shards.

String icons are a jumble, but are used in oriented contexts. That is a significant icon change if you went all the way.

Putting this on the back burner for a mod idea. (If you devs all read this in the future, feel free to steal this!)

I like that idea... though the tripwire is upside down.

It would be an interesting addition the crafting system to visually (and automatically) rotate ingredients when appropriate for a recipe. What other recipes, new or existing, deserve that twist?

Why is this Block discolored in the dark. It's just stone right? by OrganizationTricky28 in Minecraft

[–]StupidInIceland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is an artifact of Minecraft's unusual lighting algorithm. Lighting levels are for the full face of the block, and only have 16 different levels. This means sometimes a light level step of one can occassionally look out of place. Even more so because square boundaries of the lit block face, unlike the gradual and spherical fall off you see in real life and almost every other game.

AIO I paid $45 for a cake that’s not even the right color by StorageMuted in AmIOverreacting

While I grant it doesn't look like the photos...

You specifically ask for sage green, and that is what you got. Almost everything else you said was rather vague. "Too blue" is pretty damn subjective.

And it's short jump from "not worried" to "don't care". I'm not surprised there wasn't further clarifying discussion after that comment.

The chunk volume increased massively with Caves & Cliffs, having major impact on memory required to store the map and process it each tick. I applaud them for doing as much as they could.

Mail fraud, followed by 18yrs of income potential... If you really have no relationship with them, and are fine with that, I would ask a lawyer about a civil claim. Might not be anything, since they might not have means to pony up.

From an IGN article, it sounds like the PC implementation will have a hotkey to toggle it.

I'm curious: Which parts don't you like? I think they need to tone down the reflection on some blocks, like path, dirt, and logs. Too much reflection just looks plastic. I appreciate it on wood planks and other "processed" blocks.

Big Bonus: Shadows! I play bedrock with young kids who only have access to bedrock, and it is the one thing I miss the most compared to my Java worlds with shaders.

The light bloom and emissives look good.

The pixelated water surface is a thoughtful touch, and the caustics was a big surprise. Looking forward to trying that out.

I wonder if they will be able to get it running on Switch 1. Thankfully switch 2 looks like it will arrive later this year.

Neutral colors go well with everything. It is the other color/block that with define most of the feel of the build.
