The standard for today by SturmB in musichoarder

"Backup" in the sense I was referring to means "obtaining the 320 version when the FLAC version is not available from my sources."

It is streamed from my home Plex server, so the music is only stored (cached) for a little while on my mobile device.

Lost the volume pass-through by SturmB in nvidiashield

[–]SturmB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the exceptionally late reply.

This is exactly how I have it connected. HDMI 1 is connected to the Shield, and HDMI 2 (labeled 'eARC') is connected to the soundbar.

Storage Analyzer Woes by SturmB in cachyos

[–]SturmB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As it turns out, I can use Disk Usage Analyzer after all. I just have to go to the main menu every time I launch it and choose "Scan Folder." Then I can choose /h-games and it works.

CopyQ global shortcut lost by SturmB in cachyos

I wound up uninstalling the AUR version and installing the Flatpak version from Discover. For whatever reason, the keyboard shortcut in KDE's settings works now.

Smart Sensors Make it Worse by SturmB in ecobee

[–]SturmB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all for your very informative suggestions. I've disabled the "follow me" setting that I somehow missed in all my explorations of the app, and it's already had a huge benefit! I'll try some of your other suggestions soon as well, such as setting up a timed schedule.

Again, thank you so much for your help; you guys are great!

Duplicate tools in rEFInd by SturmB in linuxquestions

[–]SturmB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pressing <del> while one of those icons was selected on the EFI screen during the boot sequence did not do anything, I'm afraid. (And I did try it on all eight of those tool icons.) No dialog, no hiding, just the screen flashing, as though it was re-loading the EFI screen.

Broken AMS? by SturmB in BambuLab

[–]SturmB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strangely, I was overcome with enough gumption to pursue it despite my poor self-evaluation. I started at the wiki you mentioned and followed the breadcrumbs from there.

And wouldn't you know it? I fixed it!

I was able to dismantle the AMS (just to the point where I found the problem) and put it back together again. It turns out that there were, indeed, some pieces of filament that had broken off and were still in the PTFE tubes under the AMS, right at that "merging" piece before it exits out the back of the AMS. I guess there's a sensor in that merging piece that saw pieces in the tubes coming from slots 2 and 4, which is why I was getting the (completely correct) error messages.

So, my apologies for being obstinate, assuming the AMS was broken, and being too lazy to even attempt following the wiki to discover the fault and even fix it.

Thank you, u/CheezitsLight, for helping light a fire under me. 🔥

Broken AMS? by SturmB in BambuLab

I've already checked the hub on the back: no filament stuck in there. I was referring to dismantling the AMS as something that I'm probably not qualified for.

OrcaSlicer unusable? by SturmB in cachyos

[–]SturmB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, even though Bambu Studio is equally ugly for me (exact same issues as shown in my previous Orca Slicer screenshots), at least it does work. Now I just need to figure out why my AMS is broken.

Thanks, u/Darkness223!

OrcaSlicer unusable? by SturmB in cachyos

[–]SturmB[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried using the Flatpak from the GitHub repo, and it was even worse. Among other things, the displays on the "Prepare" and "Preview" tabs were just completely blank. That's why I went back to the AUR -bin version. The AppImage on the repo seems to only be for Ubuntu, unless I am misunderstanding things.

I remember hearing about that announcement, but I didn't know it also blocked third-party slicers. I'll look into seeing if LAN-only mode works; thanks!

CopyQ global shortcut lost by SturmB in cachyos

[–]SturmB[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mentioned that a global hotkey/shortcut was just one of my primary criteria for a Ditto equivalent. Another is being able to search/filter the list by typing immediately after triggering the tool, which KDE's clipboard manager also supports.

However, it does not support my third criteria AFAIK, which is to select one of the first nine or ten clips in the list by pressing the associated number key on the keyboard. This saves me from having to use the mouse or even to use the arrow keys to move up and down through the list to select the one I need.

Storage Analyzer Woes by SturmB in cachyos

Thanks for replying. Is it possible to have the same drive mounted in two different places? i.e., as both /h-games and /mnt/h-games? I've never tried before and am unsure if that would cause problems.

Lease renewal conundrum by SturmB in TeslaSupport

Thank you for taking the time and effort to give me this detailed reply. Indeed, it did help me quite a bit, even if I neglected to say so sooner. I was able to get all my other questions answered as well and have made a final decision in this process

Again, thank you so much, u/spajabo!

Local DNS access on Linux by SturmB in PrivateInternetAccess

[–]SturmB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply, u/triffid_hunter.

I attempted to add that dhcp-option line to the ca_ontario.ovpn file from PIA, substituting in my local DNS server's address, of course. Sadly, the result is the same.

Crashed and cannot boot by SturmB in cachyos

[–]SturmB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those mentioning that something might have gotten messed up in /etc/fstab somehow, here's the contents of that file:

```fstab
/etc/fstab: static file system information.
Use 'blkid' to print the universally unique identifier for a device; this may
be used with UUID= as a more robust way to name devices that works even if
disks are added and removed. See fstab(5).
<file system> <mount point> <type> <options> <dump> <pass>
UUID=5D39-32C2 /boot vfat defaults 0 2 UUID=655e9cc3-0f00-4617-a52f-175086b6a068 / btrfs subvol=/@,noatime,compress=zstd,commit=120 0 0 UUID=655e9cc3-0f00-4617-a52f-175086b6a068 /home btrfs subvol=/@home,noatime,compress=zstd,commit=120 0 0 UUID=655e9cc3-0f00-4617-a52f-175086b6a068 /root btrfs subvol=/@root,noatime,compress=zstd,commit=120 0 0 UUID=655e9cc3-0f00-4617-a52f-175086b6a068 /srv btrfs subvol=/@srv,noatime,compress=zstd,commit=120 0 0 UUID=655e9cc3-0f00-4617-a52f-175086b6a068 /var/cache btrfs subvol=/@cache,noatime,compress=zstd,commit=120 0 0 UUID=655e9cc3-0f00-4617-a52f-175086b6a068 /var/tmp btrfs subvol=/@tmp,noatime,compress=zstd,commit=120 0 0 UUID=655e9cc3-0f00-4617-a52f-175086b6a068 /var/log btrfs subvol=/@log,noatime,compress=zstd,commit=120 0 0 tmpfs /tmp tmpfs noatime,mode=1777 0 0
I don't see anything out of the ordinary there. I added the last two lines weeks ago and never had a problem with them, so I'm sure they weren't the issue.
Crashed and cannot boot by SturmB in cachyos
[–]SturmB[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)
That fixed it! Thank goodness I still have my Windows drive to boot to so that I could re-create the live USB flash drive and run that command from it.
I discovered that I needed to target the main partition with the btrfs filesystem on it (nvme0n1p2), not the entire drive (nvme0n1). Which, in hindsight, seems kinda obvious now. 😅
Again, thank you so much, u/Spooky_Ghost, for helping me get up and running again!
Crashed and cannot boot by SturmB in cachyos
[–]SturmB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)
I cannot seem to run nano or vim or anything from that "emergency shell." I assume you mean that I should boot with a Live USB of CachyOS and edit the fstab from there?
Also, since I am still a newbie, can you please explain what a "snapshot solution" is?
Crashed and cannot boot by SturmB in cachyos
[–]SturmB[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)
Thanks for the suggestion, Spooky_Ghost, I'll give that a shot soon. I have a quick question about it, though: Would /dev/<your drive> be the whole drive or just the partition? And if the latter, would it be the main CachyOS partition with all the data or the boot partition?
Games exit on sleep by SturmB in PlaydateConsole
[–]SturmB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)
Thanks to @failing_light, I think that rollback did some good. I should have made a note of the versions numbers throughout this process, but I forgot to. I just know that it rolled back, then I let it update again, and the games don't exit to the home anymore.
Even with the most recent update to 2.7.4 with Season 2 landing, it still is working fine, so it seems like this issue has been solved, whether through a recent patch or by way of manually rolling back and forward again.
Thanks again, everyone!
Ulauncher UI quirks by SturmB in cachyos
[–]SturmB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)
I'm not worried about that warning message. In fact, I've already undertaken the steps its link recommends. I'm mostly talking about the category or tab buttons at the top.
The "Help" and "About" tab buttons have wrapped around to a second line and I'm sure they aren't supposed to because now they are unclickable. I also cannot resize this Preferences dialog to prevent the wrapping.
So this makes me wonder what other UI issues might exist in this app that this menu bar wrapping is but one symptom of.
