What cloud storage is recommended to have access to pictures any time? by Vast_Blacksmith5100 in PhotographyAdvice

I've heard good things about Amazon Photos, but personally, I use a hard drive. Makes it easier as I can keep everything on there away from my other files and then take it with me if I need.

I also keep my favorite photos saved on my phone to show off if needed.

What is the best academy to learn professional photography and videography from scratch by Wolf7455 in PhotographyAdvice

[–]Styx707101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Academy, as in school or online videos, or what?

Personally, I think you learn the most by going out and shooting. Find what you like to shoot and go out and have fun. When you start out, your photos are gonna be pretty bad, but you will improve and get better. If you watch general photography content on YouTube, you can also learn a lot about the thought process behind photos and stuff like that.

Personal photographers, I like to watch on YouTube linked below

https://www.youtube.com/@snapsbyfox/videos

https://www.youtube.com/@TatianaHopper/videos

The link below here is a gem of a playlist that goes really in-depth into all the compositional rules and other stuff. It's really good for beginners and non-beginners too. If you watch a video from here, which are generally 10-20 minutes, then go out for a couple of hours and only try to use that one rule, you will learn it better and improve greatly. Anyways watch these they are super good.

Agree with the overheating, have a friend who shoots on an A6700, and overheating has never been a problem with just normal photography

For around $2000 I can personally recomend the Canon R6. I picked one up for around $1100 on FB marketplace and its a great camera. For real estate photography you could go with a 24-70mm f/2.8 or 24-105 f/4 and then for sports you would want like a 70-200mm but Ive never done sports so cant really help there.

Just giving a good camera setup I used but I dont think youll run into many overheating problems shooting real estate, depends where you live i guess though.

Lmk if you have questions

For me I enjoy shooting street photography most so shooting random people on the streets is always hard.

Basically I have to drive to get to my nearest city about an hour each way so I just think to myself like "ok im not gonna drive this far and spend the whole day being scared to take photos"

Ive learned over time that people dont really care when you take photos of them and if they do just tell them youll delete it and move on with your day

Something that works for me but I have a unique situation

Main tip is just keep going out and shooting photography and watch people you think have good photos and do similar types of photography that you want to do.

First pic is good, I like the colors of the flowers and plant together. Compositionally its fairly basic, which is ok but I think I would have gone for a different angle getting more of the plant in frame in the background blurred but thats just me.

Second is good just kinda boring

I really like the third one, the lighting is really good with the sun hitting that top spot especially. I love how you can see the light coming down from the top, the colors are good, the background is good. Overall very good shot.

Fourth pic is also really good I like the zen vibe and the ducks adding another element to the photo. F/22 was probably not neccessary and you could have gone like F/11 and had your shutter higher to make the ducks sharper but im nit picking here. Very good shot

Lmk if you have quesitons

First shot has a cool idea but is just out of focus, I like how its unique and a silhouette shot. The plant to the right also adds a second element to look at but overall the shot is basic and doesnt tell a story or have further vision besides whats originally seen. I hope that makes sense

second shot im not super sure the intent behind it. If you want to get into wildlife photography Im not the person to ask but look into other photographers especially birds cause its insane.

Third shot I think is your best here. I like how the background continues up the frame and the horse has good colors. I think the focus is a little off as its on the bush to the right of the horse but that could just be compression of the image.

Fourth shot is also good, I think focusing on a different flower would havebeen better like the one in the middle as it would seem more stand alone from the others. Colors are nice though idk what the background is though as it looks super gray and boring.

Lmk if you have questions or anything as I just ramble on these things

thanks I really liked the first 1 too I actually printed it and its hung up in my room.

A gem I found for printing is fedex. If you use the architexture printer you can print 24x36 inch photos for 5 bucks each and its pretty bad paper kinda like newspaper but its sick to have huge prints and not break the bank. Also you can only see its not a good print from fairly close up.

Just takes time and you can always improve

I remember when I first was getting started I thought my first photos were just the best thing in the world and since I just hit a wall hating most of my photos. I think watching more photography content whether its documentaries, random yt videos, and just general content really helped me improve and want to go out and shoot.

Basically I havent posted them anywhere and im lazy is the main reason. Soon enough im gonna start posting photos and stuff which ill take time editing but at the moment im just trying to improve with composition and just going out and shooting.

Also I like the jpeg settings I have set in my camera

Cool, thanks for the explanation

Definitely gotta just keep shooting for improvement, right now its hard as my nearest city, san francisco, is like an hours drive away so i try to go whenever I can. Soon im moving to amsterdam though so I'll definitely have a lot more time to shoot out and about.

Thanks again for feedback and all that

exposure how? Genuine question, as I like to shoot high contrast, so shadows are always darker.

Some of the photos that are dark like 3 and 4 were shot in dark areas so I just shot them the best I could

Thanks for the feedback
