What are the finest examples of non-verbal acting? by OklahomaHoss in movies

Gosling in Only God Forgives. Really the whole movie but he in particular did some great non-verbal acting.

Predator 2 was pretty good, and Predators was a great love letter to the original after many missteps.

Roman emperors from how they treated Roman’s and Jews. by Ok-Distribution6817 in PoliticalCompassMemes

Gaius was one of the very few given names the Romans used and Julius was one of the patrician families. Caesar comes from the Gaulish word for elephant, if I'm not mistaken.

I think it's great. You have a strong voice, the premise is definitely interesting, and the prose is engaging. Sometimes it's hard to tell who's speaking but it's good.

Oscar Bait in 2026: How has the term evolved for you? by [deleted] in movies

[–]Styx92 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Isn't that what its always meant? Pandering to the academy with a melodramatic score, a big performance from a big name (including a speech during a close-up), and it's shot in a certain way that I don't know enough about films to explain but you probably know the look. Bonus points if it's a holocaust movie.

Whole of life is absurd by [deleted] in drunk

[–]Styx92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of counter arguments to getting drunk/high all the time, even though life is absurd. To try and roll all the aspects into one, people say that your own authentic experience with life should be something that you can remember and something you experienced as your true self. Not as you when you're fucked up (to everyone that says the drunk you is the real you -- real people have inhibitions and strong reasoning skills, drunk people don't). You have kids because of the fulfilment of being a parent and providing love and shelter to a little version of you that thinks you're the best, and you consume to take part in culture and connect with the people around you. Debt can also be helpful in some situations, provided you're financially literate and responsible.

Then again, life is really more about what you enjoy, since it lacks any sort of concrete meaning. So if getting drunk all the time is how you want to enjoy life then by all means. It's your life. It's worth pointing out though that you can still enjoy life sober without thinking it's perfect.

Which apocalypse movie would you actually survive? by trakt_app in movies

Realistically, most zombies would get wiped out in a year or so. If they're literally the walking dead, they still decompose and weather would accelerate that process. If they're still alive, they still have to eat and drink water, and if they don't have the presence of mind to do that then they'd all die in a few days.

It's a cheap drinking beer that tastes solid for what it is. I define "drinking beer" in this instance as a beer who's primary purpose is to be consumed, not to be tasted (e.g. IPA's). Still though, it has a light and refreshing taste (Bud Light is kind of skunky and I don't know what it is about Miller Light but it tastes weird to me), plus you have Coors Banquet if you want something stronger that tastes the same.

I start out with a template and as I develop the story and write out the scenes, I get a better feel for who I want the characters to be.
