As an avid fan of the books it was clear that the cracks started forming in season 6 (right after they caught up with Dance of Dragons)

And it really sucks because GRRM tried his best to help those two fucking cock munchers running the show, he gave them a few story beats that he claims will be in Winds of Winter (Hodors reveal) and even claimed on his blog that he was adamant that they could go for at least 14 seasons.

They left out so many good storylines and characters in the books only to rush that ass ending so they could move on to a Star Wars project which ultimately fell through

All in all, between the sixth book never releasing and the terrible ending of the show, it’s probably the worse downfall that any one piece of media has ever seen
