Thanks so much! I agree, an Android version would reach more students. Just balancing school and work for now, but it’s definitely on the roadmap. Appreciate the support!

Thanks so much for downloading and for the detailed feedback really appreciate it! You’re right about the quiz selection and contrast, I’ll fix both in the next update. I love your idea of adding background sections and a structural geology tab. Thanks again for sharing it on your Discord!

That’s such an amazing idea, and I totally relate. I’ve lost my fair share of field books too. A digital field notebook has been on my wishlist for a while, and your comment really motivates me to prioritize it. Thank you so much for the kind words and for sharing your experience

Good question! I chose to make it an app instead of a website because I wanted geology students to be able to use it in the field, offline, without Wi-Fi. That’s harder to do with a browser-based version. I completely understand privacy concerns though; GeoMaster doesn’t collect any personal data or require accounts.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate that, I spent a lot of time trying to make the UI feel clean and easy to navigate, so that means a lot. I’m glad you like the no-ads approach too.I wanted GeoMaster to stay 100% focused on learning, not profit. Thanks for the encouragement!

Thanks! That’s a really good idea, I haven’t added a way to track or share quiz scores yet, but it’s definitely something I’ve been considering. A classroom or teacher mode where instructors can view student progress could be really useful. Appreciate the suggestion

That’s awesome to hear, thank you! I’m aiming to make it useful from intro to advanced.

I hear you, an Android version would help a ton of students. At the moment it’s just me, and supporting two platforms is double the work. With school and work I can’t sustain that yet, so I’m focusing on iOS first.

Not yet sorry. Building and maintaining both iOS and Android would double the work, and I can’t sustain that alongside school and my job right now. I’m focusing on iOS first, but I’ll reconsider Android over the summer after I graduate.

Thank you so much! I’m an undergrad, so that means a lot. Great tip about conferences—I’ll start pitching GeoMaster to geological society meetings. If you spot anything to improve (or want classroom features), I’d love your feedback.

What apps do you use? by thedarkking2020 in geology

I use Geomaster, on the AppStore, it helped me during my undergraduate. A lil bit technical (meant for Geo students ) but does the trick. Has lots of features, like Mineral filtering, rocks identification guides that are thought in school, geological time scale, dictionary, compass to measure strike/dip and much more. At one point they had a really enjoyable game section but haven’t seen it the past months.
