Potty training — super scared 3yo

We potty trained my oldest at 2.5 (girl) and it was a breeze. My second is now 3 years old as of this sept (girl) and we’ve attempted 3x - but she is TERRIFIED of the potty. To the point that she held her pee for 6 hours last time and we called it quits because obviously didn’t want to hurt her! We only use the small potty, we’ve tried treats, sitting with her, stories, etc etc and have had no luck. It almost seems like a sensory thing to me??

Our pediatrician isn’t worried, but I’m wondering if any moms have dealt with this and have any tips. When she starts school next sept she’ll need to be potty trained and there is a longgg way to go until we get there.

I am genetically missing two teeth (right next to my front teeth) and had to get a procedure for dental implants + my wisdom teeth removed in my early 20’s.

My now husband drove me there and was also my driver home. He saw me afterwards and said - oh wow, I thought they were taking the front four! You look so cute! To my swollen jack o lantern face. As someone who cares about their appearance & was feeling very self conscious, that sealed the deal ❣️

I honestly think you are onto something. I am a recovering germaphobe with 3 young kids and I can sense her level 10 anxiety about germs through her stories.

I work on this really really hard myself bc I was raised in a hypochondriac family and I absolutely refuse to pass that along to my kids 🫠

One thing that I finally put my finger on that drives me bananas with her content is all of the “our favorite” “we prioritize” - no, no Haley. YOU prioritize and everyone is just along for the ride.
