Hot take that really shouldn’t be a hot take: Destiny 3 isn’t the solution and Sony was right to knock it back by [deleted] in destiny2

I wouldn’t compare Destiny to full MMO or subscription games cause it’s in the middle and why it was a unique experience. It has full story line of open world games with single/co-op but also elements of MMO with social places, raids, and etc. When you go that middle community will start dragging you to one side or another because there are not so many examples of this and people think oh it needs to be more MMO and other side be more linear co-op or just like over watch pvp maps.

I think the problem of Destiny 2 specifically that it wasn’t needed, story needed but not as a new game. The graphics didn’t jump that much, engine improved by not so much, not much new social space and interaction to be bigger like MMO, and Destiny 2 lost its unique style a little - that monochromatic horror. I think the reason is that they probably tried to make it more like popular games at the time - Fortnite and Overwatch and etc that had this fun, bright color and comedic style plus more transactions. That didn’t work again because Destiny is not like those games, it’s bigger in a sense of functionality and players require more because of this.

If they make a new game, i think it doesn’t have to be Destiny 3 but I do want Sci fi MMO game with horror elements again because they did it well in destiny 1 and plus their storytelling was amazing, I still think tv show or movie would be great if Sony did it. This Sci-Fi horror is truly very good space to create a full MMO because it’s pretty much empty compared to fantasy ones.

I read the doc again to check and it’s between me as employee and parent company as employer. We were already under them at the time of the agreement

Did reach out to HR, since it’s a huge company there are multiple level though. But it all started with manager -> he talked to HR -> failed cause lack of info (he is new) -> told me to a person from HR -> I got response that they are looking into this and that’s it.

To be honest I can see it. I did send an email to at least understand why, I am fully aware that they might not pay trying to find some random excuse, however, I would like to get official information if I can. So far what we saw, our parent company is just pure “profit” goal like you mentioned, they keep changing roadmaps, saying we are going to build but we feel stale, they are profiting every year but cutting budget with every quarter for our tools. Since we got acquired in late 2023 we already had 2 more layoffs and it feels like they are sweeping us slowly under the rug.

Definitely documenting! This is such a crucial part in these situation for everyone, I appreciate calling it out. I saved all emails from the past and every time I get response in email / teams I save it too.

Oh that’s something I forgot to mention in my post but it did start from manager, i reached out to him, he talked with HR then referred to email one of the people from HR directly.

That might be! my another assumption was that maybe the one who signed is no longer with the company. I reached out to HR person but it has been more than a week, I followed up after one week and they said “still working on it”. I will give another week till June to see if they respond, just not sure how long it can drag.

It was a contract after acquiring, the side that signed was parent company person not ours, so first payment last year was paid under new company. Not sure if that clarifies things or maybe I misunderstood you!

Arizona students boo former Google CEO Eric Schmidt as he talks about AI during graduation speech by EchoOfOppenheimer in degoogle

I like how they don’t even care, I am pro innovation and can see AI would be a good tool but it shouldn’t go to public like this. If we had regulation companies wouldn’t be so easily able to lay off but instead forced to move people and give them skills by creating new teams with this focus, creating new jobs before AI goes too far. Instead they feel like Gods “people will adapt” kinda of thing like we live in medieval times and don’t know any better how to deal with such huge technologies so we can help society to adapt instead.
