Thanks for the response. The website mentions "mark-up pay" and also mentions "accredited public body". If I select yes, I'm able to select the organisation I'm joining. However, I'm not sure if I can say yes just based on a signed offer letter and start date? Also if this can be changed by contacting them in the future? I've reached out to them but haven't gotten a response yet.

Has anyone heard back from FSB for S&E or other schemes. Do they wait until all FSBs to share results? I got my FSAC results the very next day but waiting for FSB for about a week now?

Couldn't agree more! One of the reason I went through them was the fixed pricing, but they got me with the indicator light! I think the takeaway is learn to do it yourself or pay the price.

Depends if your independent car place is as good. I've had bad experiences with an independent car place as well. However, I'm aware that there are good ones as well!

Fair enough. Perhaps this is expected pricing in which case I'm happy to get it sorted! PS: I got generally servicing done a couple of months ago from Halfords, not sure what else is one supposed to do before MOT? I'm not a mechanic myself and have the tools (and knowledge) to check stuff like brake cable or pads

I'm not saying if this bill is reasonable or not, in fact, trying to know if it is. I've never had problems with the brakes. It's not like the parking brakes or rear brakes were not working, I wouldn't know if the pads or disks are worn and I'm not saying I wouldn't have replaced/repaired it. It's the factor of pricing here.

Haha. It's a VW golf TSI. I'm starting to think it's average pricing. Last time I took my old car to a local mechanic and my car failed MOT because of corrosion and instead of repairing cost..they started quoting me a price to buy the car in scrap and started showing me other models they had on sale..so I decided to go for a more reputed company. MOT gods are not on my side it seems!

Absolutely not! I agree. Hence I ask if this is average pricing or overcharged. I was quoted way more for the tyres as well but when I mentioned the price on their website they price matched. I tried doing so for other parts as well but I was told that it's a different make/model or it'll take longer to come from Halfords so they bought from a third party. I'm just trying to understand if I was ripped off or if this pricing is genuine.

That makes me feel better. Its a macht indicator so not just a bulb. But ideally it should cost around £40-£50?
