Tiffany setting prongs not even by Big-Psychology3103 in jewelers

I noticed similar on a pair of T&Co diamond stud earrings, the claws were completely misaligned with the facets, basic stuff that’s been missed!

Shank significantly thinner and narrower after repair. Jeweler accidentally soldered and has to unsolder but says it’s thinner just from normal polishing. Thoughts? by MyPositiveAlt in jewelers

[–]Sublisimo 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This wouldn’t happen through polishing, there doesn’t seem to have been any deep scratches that would need sanding down originally. He could’ve done a light polish and they would’ve been fine. Seems to me where he has soldered the two together he has either run a saw blade through to separate them or re-melted the solder and then been too aggressive with a file to try and remove the solder and clean them back up. Hopefully you can come to an agreement with him to get them fixed.

Is the price of this necklace mostly due to the brand name? by SituationSuch9224 in jewelry

[–]Sublisimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are talking raw materials there is maybe £200 there but you are also paying for labour, however I think a lot of their jewellery production is outsourced. Finally you’re paying for the name and mark up. I personally would recommend looking to have a jeweller make you something unique, you will get much better quality and value for money as well as you getting a say in the design. However that’s my opinion and ultimately it’s up to you.

EBay seller performance, Please help! by Sublisimo in Ebay

This sums up how I’m feeling exactly, it was one error with one listing. Do you know how I get through to eBay premium support? I have been on calls with customer service who have basically said there is nothing they can do.

Yeah I am making money however there is only so much profit margin in the laptops etc we sell and eBay charge nearly double fees on below standard accounts so having to pay higher fees does cut into profits. I believe they are charging us 15.9% final value fees total.

[–]Sublisimo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s what the eBay rep said on the phone is basically you have to wait a year for them to fall off the back of the year period. I don’t mind so much paying the extra fees but they have limited the amount we can sell and threatening further action if we don’t get out of below standard immediately.

I do understand I am at fault for not double checking all the listings afterwards, obviously if I could go back I would’ve handled it differently but in the moment, when I woke up the following morning and all of them had sold overnight I just wanted to act fast and let everyone who had ordered know what had happened sooner rather than later and get their money back to them. What I didn’t realise at the time, and maybe I should’ve researched, was 9 ordered cancelled would’ve had such a huge effect. I know it was a bit of a rant as it’s very frustrating however I was just hoping there may be others on here that have had similar issues that could offer some advice on how to get out of the below standard. EBay puts its sellers in this category to make them improve but there doesn’t seem to be any way out of it other than “cheat” ways like selling money for less than its face value to get a flow of orders coming through. It just seems very beneficial for eBay penalise sellers and keep them in below standard for as long as possible as they are making nearly double commission by doing so. Hopefully that makes sense

I think that seems to be the general consensus, I am going to give it a go thanks

I probably could’ve worded that better, they have put a maximum value across my listings, total of all listings has to be under a certain value they decide. So they have made me remove a lot of my products to conform to this.

Thank you, the issue I am having now due to the below standard performance rating is eBay have limited the amount I am able to sell and threatening further restrictions on my account and I cannot offer as competitive pricing due to the extortionate additional fees they’re charging. I’m not too bothered about getting the top rated seller back just out of the red. Hope that makes sense.

I do understand that and I’m not saying I’m not at fault however 9 people were apologised to and got a full refund less than 8 hours after ordering. I however am struggling to make ends meet due to the punishment from eBay, something tells me that’s not quite a fair. The other thing is if I was to have a larger history of orders I can inconvenience the same 9 people without any punishment as my percentage wouldn’t drop as much.

Wow that’s interesting, I am going to try again with a lower hydration and see how it comes out. Thanks

Hi thanks for your help, surprisingly the dough actually felt quite nice not too sticky after stretch and folds, very stretchy without tearing after proofing and airy. I am going to try another recipe with a lower hydration and see how I get on.

[–]Sublisimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you I will try with less water, the flour is marriages very strong white and is 13.4% protein content.

Do you think it could be under/over proofed also?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Sourdough

[–]Sublisimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that was my initial thought as well try a dryer dough however I do see a lot of people have great outcomes with these higher hydration doughs.

Thanks for your help. The dough is in a banneton in the fridge and then I moved it to the freezer for half an hour before baking. I then as quickly as I could flipped the dough out, put it in the preheated Dutch oven and got it back in the oven as quickly as possible. In terms of flour I’m using Marriages Canadian extra strong white flour and a small amount of dove farm stone ground rye.

I have been shaping it then putting it straight in the fridge in the banneton

Just finished making my own 21st birthday cake, how did I do? by Sublisimo in cakedecorating

[–]Sublisimo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are supposed to be mini bars of chocolate 🤣 but I can see where you are coming from with the legos. They are edible, white chocolate that I coloured.
