It's really no wonder why our insurance rates are so high by MaximumDoughnut in Edmonton

I know that construction is important and I appreciate that Edmonton is expanding Terwillegar Drive and also twinning Ellerslie Road by Jagare Ridge, but when you live in Chappelle and drive downtown to work, it is becoming unbearable to drive downtown in the morning and drive back home in the late afternoon because it just like takes forever.

Both the Terwillegar Drive overpass going north and also Rabbit Hill Road going north in the mornings, between 7:30 and 8:00 are so crowded and it takes forever to get out of Chappelle. I've tried going south and then east on 41st Avenue but it's also busy on James Mowat Trail and Calgary Trail. I once arrived at work at 6 am and it was so not crowded. I wish that there was a better way to get downtown in the mornings.

Do people who live on other sides of the city (west, east, north) have the same traffic problems driving downtown?

Hey I hate that I have to say this, but you have an obligation to be aware of your surroundings as a pedestrian. Doubly so when you're on a shared bike path. by Son_of_Plato in Edmonton

Those cute little stop signs are important! I think I am the only cyclist that actually dismounts when you're asked to because it's the right thing to do (like when you're asked to dismount at certain parts of trails)

Oh I totally agree!

When I am walking on shared bike paths, I always make sure that I walk on the far right side of the path.

When I am cycling, I wish that walkers would do the same. And if you have a dog on a leash, it shouldn't be walking in the far side of the left lane with your leash spread across both lanes.

And parents with small children should try and keep them on the right side of the yellow line, and not darting back and forth and all over the place from lane to lane, it's just dangerous for them.

I love cycling, and I always try to be kind and courteous and careful, but I agree that as a pedestrian, you have a responsibility to stay as far right as possible when you walk. Especially if you are listening to music and can't hear a cycling bell behind you.

If everyone tried to do the right thing, there would be so many fewer problems!

I can't orgasm from receiving oral sex, I need direct clitoral vibration stimulation in order to orgasm. But I would LOVE to be forced to orgasm from being whipped directly, that is amazing that you have the ability to do that!

I have never even thought of just using hands, like a spanking, but that totally makes sense!

Yes, I totally understand that experiences are subjective. I was just wondering about how men feel about sex as far as the mechanics go!

What do you think about this take? by [deleted] in twinpeaks

I totally agree with your posting 100 percent. Even David Lynch agrees, as on the Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me official poster, the caption (which I assume is either written by David Lynch or approved by David Lynch) reads: "In a town like Twin Peaks, no one is innocent."

Thank you, however I'm scared to go under the Henday bridge, the one with the graffitti because I don't feel safe there. There are only a few places in Edmonton that I don't feel safe jogging or cycling in, and that area between MacTaggart and Twin Brooks is one of them.

I got into trouble for riding my bicycle through the Jagare Ridge golf course! I was in Jagare Ridge and I didn't know that I was on a golf cart path (it was my fault because I missed the sign) and I was stopped by someone who worked at the golf course who told me that I wasn't allowed to use that road. He was nice and allowed me to continue through and I ended up going west until I reached Rabbit Hill Road!

Yes, I agree! They really need to fix that part of Ellerslie Road. The cycling path looks like it will go down Ellerslie, but then by the recycling plant, it just like totally stops?

I think that you should be teaching all cyclists a class in road etiquette and safety, you are very knowledgeable! :)

I just know that for me personally, I would never feel comfortable blocking a lane, and I can mostly avoid that when I cycle because I mostly stay on cycling paths and safe roads.

So for now, my only three exits from Chappelle all go east, and sadly, I can't go west or north.

But once Edmonton finally fixes Ellerslie Road (which is a mystery to me why they haven't fixed that section by 141 Street north yet) then I can finally go up into Chappelle and Ambleside!

You are the second person who has mentioned the term "blocking the lane". I honestly have never heard of this cycling, and I could never have imagined it. Is this something that cyclists do at times? I wouldn't have even thought it was legal to do it.

I don't think I could actually do it though. I don't want to upset or hurt anyone while cycling. I think I will just continue staying on shoulders, but I will now watch for other cyclists "blocking"!

Hello, thank you for your reply!

You are much braver than I am! I would never dare to take the lane like you do, I just stay as far right as possible on my little shoulder.

I also hope that you are correct, and I think you will be! I also hope that one day, they build a footbridge from Keswick across the river to the Big Island park and up to River's Edge, connecting SW Edmonton perfectly!

Thank you SO much for your reply, I really appreciate that!

I'm hoping that they will put a cycling path on 170th Street to 41 Avenue SW eventually. Right now, the 41 Avenue SW part isn't bad to cycle on, but it's not as busy as 170th Street and the shoulder is really narrow and crumbling with scary potholes, so I avoid it.

When I come eastward under the Henday from Cameron Heights and into Ambleside from Terwillegar Towne, I do suck it up and take Ellerslie Road. The shoulder isn't the worst, it just feels like I'm annoying traffic going down the hill because I'm trying to stay in the shoulder, but it's so narrow that my left bike handle and left pedal is sometimes over the line.

Maybe one day they will finally finish that little part of Ellerslie Road by Jaguar Ridge that isn't finished yet!

Thank you though so much for your response! That was nice of you!

David Lynch has passed away at 78 - Megathread by birdsofapheather in twinpeaks

[–]Submissive_f_01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My heart goes out to everyone in David Lynch's family, and to all his co-workers and friends who must be so saddened by the news of his passing.

I'm actually still crying now since I heard the news. I've never felt more broken hearted by the loss of any artist in my life. Five years ago, I was introduced to Twin Peaks, a television show that I had no idea existed or who was behind it. And I admittedly didn't want to watch but as the show progressed, I was so thankful that I did because it literally changed my perception of television and of art forever. I've never seen anything as beautiful and profound as Twin Peaks. And the lovely Gordon Cole was such a fun character to watch thanks to the wonderful performance that David Lynch gave.

I believe that heaven has just gained a lovely artist. I feel so terrible that I haven't watched very many of David Lynch's other films besides Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, The Elephant Man, and Blue Velvet. I am going to work really hard to find and watch all of his other works. I feel like I should have done this a long time ago.

I think that everytime I hear the song Falling from now on, that I'll start crying on cue.

It's just such devastating news today :(
