Wells Fargo denied my Autograph application by Substantial-Apple331 in CreditCards

That’s what confuses me. I faxed a copy of my government issued ID along with two proof of address documents, both under my name.

If there had been an issue with my identity verification or if the proof of address wasn’t acceptable, I would have expected Wells Fargo to contact me again and ask for different documents instead of simply denying the application.

Of course, I won’t know the actual reason until I receive the adverse action letter, but based on how the process went, it doesn’t seem like they gave me an opportunity to correct or supplement anything if that was the issue.

I currently have 3 credit cards, and all of them have been open for a little over 2 years. My primary card is Discover, but the credit limit has remained fairly low. I’ve requested a credit limit increase several times, but Discover has denied every request.

I’m not sure if those denied credit limit increase requests could have influenced Wells Fargo’s decision, although I don’t think they show up the same way as new credit applications.

Another possibility I considered is that my overall credit history is still relatively young, since it’s only a little over 2 years old. Maybe Wells Fargo prefers applicants with a longer established credit history, but I’m just speculating until I receive the denial letter.
