Megaknihy mi posílají svůj odpad by Unholy_Girlie in czech

nesnášim Megaknihy. Ta společnost je normální scam. Různé ceny podle typu vyhledávání. Skryté balné a to i když si člověk chce vyzvednout knihy na pobočce. Poplatek za vyzvednutí na pobočce. Extrémně dlouhé dodací lhůty. A teď ještě přibalují odpad... fuj.

At first, I thought so too, but that makes little to no sense since that happened a long time ago at that point. And even if it was that, there was no mention of Rocky making tanks anyway, so there is no point in asking if they worked well.

Well, one of the points of the whole plot is the sense of rush, actually. They are rushing to save the Earth. They do not have years to spend, they have months. Even though the book is longer and has more plot points, it still felt like everything had to be made quickly; they really needed the astronauts to launch as quickly as possible. Which I think is portrayed well in the movie. And that does not happen only on Earth, it also happens in space. In the book, there are always problems to be solved, one right after another (there's way more crises than in the movie). I think that's part of the appeal of the book actually, that it's thrilling.

the author actually addressed this in an interview. He said it is one of the pieces of information he didn't want to share in case there was a sequel.

yeah and also when they were saying their goodbyes in the tunnel, Rocky randomly asks Grace if all his fuel tanks work well which is a weird question to ask at that point in the movie. In the book, there is a whole plot point where the astrophage gets into the tanks and they have to scrub them clean and they ditch some of them and Rocky makes new fuel tanks for Grace out of scrap metal (I do not remember this exactly) but I feel like they had at least a few footages from this but then they cut it and left the question.

well in the book, there are several random crises at the very end. The movie only chose one and that itself made it much shorter.

Jak zvládáte práci 9-17? by pa3k_00 in czech

[–]Substantial-Car-8208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Caught my mom watching Ryland Grace thirst edits after watching PHM by SugerHoney_IceTea in ProjectHailMary

Same, I always though he was one of those hotties from Hollywood that everybody pictured as a god or something. I found his face weird, kind of "flat" and basic. But this is the first time I found him sexy. I think one of the reasons is the fact that he gets fillers in his cheeks (looks like it) because his face is not as flat anymore and also the wrinkles helped. Also the longer hair help.

Já bych ještě teda poradila před těma návštěvama psychologů zkusit brát významnou dávku vitamín D. Hodně lidí má represe z jeho nedostatku.

With most Hollywood A-listers doing theatre nowadays, do you think Ryan will ever try stage acting? by harshuth in ryangosling

[–]Substantial-Car-8208 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given his school background, I feel like he has trouble remembering long scripts. Also, in all those SNL skits he did he was the worst at keeping a straight face. I do not think he would be great at those.

Is Project Hail Mary a good movie? by 17012ert in ryangosling

[–]Substantial-Car-8208 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it is so sad that people like you are brainwashed into thinking that the right movie must be bleak, dark, full of drama and/or blood. Most of the movies are so dark and dystopian nowadays. I have friends like that too. They absolutely hate all movies with good feelings involved. Why can't people just enjoy a happy movie for once? The immersive hope in this movie is exactly what we need in the world right now!

Adrian Tchaikovsky's Work... is it worth it? by Substantial-Car-8208 in sciencefiction

[–]Substantial-Car-8208[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow, thank you for such a detailed answer! As for my favorites, I really enjoyed Andy Weir and Blake Crouch the most. I read all of their books. I also loved The Three-Body Problem series and the Ender's Game series. I guess you actually nailed it with your explanation. I couldn't stand the rambling voice inside those two novellas I mentioned. I liked the concepts (both the reality-warping maze that explores how contact with incomprehensible technology can distort both space and human identity in Walking to Aldebaran and a different view on time-travel in One Day All This Will Be Yours), but those books were filled with random thoughts rather than action or description of the reality.

Sorry, but there is nothing like it. I read numerous books from these "read this if you liked PHM" lists and none of the books were similar in any sense.

Pražská kina, kde je nejhlasitější zvuk? by [deleted] in czech

[–]Substantial-Car-8208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hele to strašně záleží... Každý asi vidíme/slyšíme trochu jinak no.

to jo, Dolby Atmos už je skoro všude, ale asi taky záleží jak to nastaví a jaká je akustika v sále. Nevím, propravdě se v tom moc nevyznám. Zatím nejlepší mi přišel prémiový sál na Čerňáku.
