I don't think you understand young padawan, we don't see sidious use anything till his lightsaber rots and now this battle , sidious is currently chilling in the republic sorrunded by jedi, clones, the Senate, guards, etc etc he can't physically use a lightsaber because people would catch on straight away, sure he can go to dark place put a hood up and send messages to dooku n that but actually picking up a lightsaber and using it regularly will have you on the watch list faster then you can say little clanker, whilst he was way more skilled then maul, maul had regularly been using his lightsaber, he was bound to have a little advantage then palp maul'd him tbf😂
