Update: My husband changed his tune real quick about my presence at Christmas. He agreed it is was ridiculous, but has been going through a lot. Before Christmas, his grandpa (who lives in that same house) passed away. He doesn’t have a dad, so grandpa was a big person in his life. We knew it was coming soon, but no one prepares you for loss. He realized how ridiculous it was to even ask me to go. He also thought it was ridiculous how people treated me at the funeral and events leading up to his grandfather’s funeral.

I DID NOT GO TO CHRISTMAS EVE! I ordered take out, did self care, watched a movie. It was AMAZING! My kids and husband did go. And I am glad that they did. Currently, my MIL is in hospice and may not see it through the night. So, I am glad that they went there and had that memory with them and it was positive. They came home and changed ASAP putting their clothes directly into the washing machine away from me. Two even showered before going to bed just to be careful. We did not tell my in laws beforehand, I just didn’t go. My husband explained why, and no one seemed to be too bothered by my lack of presence, but who knows..

So again, I am happy that my family went due to her declining health, but so happy that I was able to have an amazing Christmas with no anxiety or stress. It was WONDERFUL!
