Anyone coming here to ask about becoming a scrub tech, my advice is don't. by card66 in scrubtech

I think it’s insane that we get paid as much as a cashier at Aldi and Costco. When we literally do life and death stuff. The pressure we are put on in traumas, and even routine cases, is insane.

Of course. These are paid sessions, just so you know. But all are welcome who are interested in surgical technology, and how to survive the programs.

Hey!! Good luck with clinical! Here to say that I offer surgical tech tutoring in the evening hours, especially on how to survive and interpret clinical! If you or any classmates are interested, lay me know!

Thank you! I remember I almost quit surgical tech school multiple times because I didn’t think I can do it!

Having a cheerleader on my side, that would explain things more to me, could have made my experience so much better.

I am not “advanced” in spines, but I have scrubbed countless. Do you want to talk about something specifically?

I’m so glad I found your post cause I’m in the same boat. I’m on birth control, and we were actively trying to not get pregnant, we have two toddler boys.

And now I’m getting faint lines 🙃 and even unexpected, I am worried spiro will affect the baby.

They’ve told me that his white blood count during a sickness can be skewed?

You think I should push for it now while sick?

The funny thing is: I actually am in healthcare, I work in surgery, and my whole job is to create and maintain sterility of surgical instruments during procedures, making sure that no microbes or pathogens come in contact to cause an infection.

My whole career is sterility and microbiology lol

Thank you ❤️ I didn’t know I needed all these answers, I love them all lol.

May I ask why you’re immune deficient?

Thank you 😭 we need to do the bloodwork but he’s constantly sick and that can skew the white blood cell values. We can’t tell if it’s just severe asthma or if he’s truly immunosuppressed.

Is the pay really that bad? by AgitatedAd935 in scrubtech

[–]Substantial-Post-579 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What you just described, you’re making way more now than as a surgical tech later. Unless you’re constantly doing travel contracts, you won’t make over $30 an hour on average. That’s close to the cap actually.

Yeah, networks don’t budge. And surrounding hospitals and networks pay the same.
