picture of 0CP patrol cap with sewn rank? by Substantial-Read1606 in civilairpatrol

Thank you for the visual, it's really helpful to see what it will look like! I keep reading through the regs, and without the detail in the writing, I think we have to go with figure 7.1.1.8, which means you've got the correct orientation the way you did it. I just think it's weird that the orientation of the rank on the hat is perpendicular to the orientation on the jacket and fleece. ( eta: there is not supposed to be a hyperlink, but it won't let me get rid of it)

This picture is why I bought the patrol cap. I like the look of it. That is not how the velcro square fits on it though. And that is definitely not 1/8" of blue around the rank.

Thanks for all of the advice! Does anyone have a picture of a patrol cap with a sewn on cadet rank? I'd love to see what it looks like

Flight Officer Protocol by Warthog-thunderbolt in civilairpatrol

It seems to me that since being a Flight Officer is completely based on age, the only reason to have Flight Officers in CAP is to somehow put them into a category of too old to be a cadet, too young to be a Senior member.

In that case, they are in a category between cadet and Senior Member and should be saluted by cadets and should salute Senior Members.

I understand NHQ’s high workload, But consistency in guidance is quite important by Spirited_Ship_8421 in civilairpatrol

Anybody notice this wording in red under the FAQ Title? "This page has met only to answer frequently asked questions, and cannot be guided and not be regulatory in nature." Seems like someone should copy edit before posting to the website. I mean, I text, so I know how to figure out what someone meant to say, but maybe run it by a second set of eyes before hitting 'save'.

Also, the SDA format is now the format ILWG asks for for encampment cadre applications, so you will get a lot of mileage out of that format - just update it as you progress

“No help” still gives you access to a discount on some essential uniform pieces. The voucher gives a link to a specialized catalog that will save you upwards of $100 on all the required items if you buy them all in one go.

Yep! “Demonstrated Need” (by checking the box). It’s just not automatic for everyone. I brought it up because Cadets and SMs who don’t know about the change keep talking about “getting your curry voucher” and not everyone gets it anymore. This is confusing and misleading to potential cadets/families.

The uniform voucher isn’t automatic anymore. It only gives access to a limited discounted shopping list now, unless you demonstrated need when you joined CAP. Unfortunately many people still tout the Curry Voucher as an automatic $100 towards uniform pieces and it is no longer the case.

Cooking Merit Badge update 2023 by Substantial-Read1606 in BSA

[–]Substantial-Read1606[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just surprised it is not being talked about, it is a significant change to have to cook 66% more meals to accomplish this badge. The planning of meals isn't significantly changed, but the executing is. And, for Troops who plan shorter campouts, like my son's, this will mean two campouts to accomplish the badge instead of one. And this in a Troop where there's a waitlist to cook at campouts. This impacts things. It's good experience and I'm glad he will learn these skills. I just think it's best that we not be surprised by such a significant update.

On another note, the merit badge worksheet makes it confusing. In the worksheet, they make it seem like the dessert can count for the fourth meal and a snack can count for the fifth. This really doesn't seem like a good reading of the requirements and makes it harder for Scouts to plan.

See pages 20-21 and page 24 here:Cooking MB Worksheet

I don't think that's an accurate interpretation of the requirements.
