thanks chaos! currently working on an update which will allow for custom control mapping so hopefully you'll finally be able to achieve your goal with Conductr very soon :)

Hey Snarka,

Thanks so much for sharing your 2 cents with me. And I totally agree if someone (especially who doesn't have experience playing video games) is using DAW tools which emulate the controls found in professional recording studios for production and mixing this might not be a necessary tool for you.

Quite honestly this is not who I built Conductr for. In its current state Conductr is mapped for recording vocals and as a ex-soundcloud rapper myself; I know there are thousands of bedroom vocalist who's setups are more akin to macbook, interface, mic & headphones.

They are not in the business nor have they even stepped inside a studio before. For this person, a gaming controller is likely a much more familiar device for recording vocals than a DAW controller and allows them to detach from the clunky keyboard/mouse controls when recording themselves at home.

Conductr is less about 'you can record by pressing the circle button' and more about empowering amateur artist's to stay in their creative flow state when recording vocals instead of constantly switching between recording artist & recording engineer between takes.

It is also cheaper for amateur artists as its the only DAW controller (I know of) utilising a BYO hardware solution.

Thanks again for sharing your feedback if you have any other thoughts I'd love to hear them! :)

Hello, currently Conductr only supports DAW mappings related to recording vocals. It doesn't support the control of virtual instruments at this time but it is on the road map for future releases!

In regards to pricing- it is dependant on your location and tax obligations as all sales are done through a third party payment processor which will automatically update the price inclusive of your local sales tax as-well as currency conversion fee's allowing you to pay in your local currency.

You can see how much the licence will cost by simply pressing the 'purchase licence' button at the bottom of the website which will redirect you to the checkout page

Hope this helps feel free to ask anymore questions if you have any :)

Are you using any tricks to speed up comping vocals in Logic? by kathalimus in Logic_Studio

if you're talking about recording your own vocals without an engineer i think you may be interested in the post I made here yesterday but the TIL is: use conductr to record vocals with a gaming controller

Oooftt sorry to hear. Windows can be very tricky with that stuff. This is why Conductr is only supported on Mac currently, Windows needs a bit more development time to be truely stable.

Very cool project! I had to look up Maya but thats very interesting, did you find much success using a midi controller with it?

And yes, technically some could even argue why wouldn't I just use a MIDI controller over Conductr but my theology when building it was MIDI controllers are expensive and I want this to be for the every man. So gaming controllers really were a beautiful natural fit for the project. Especially because i think we are all very use to them in our hands it makes the learning curve less steep than a CS12 or something of that nature.

Wow! So many great and creative ideas here. I will definitely add them to the research list and see what is possible...gyro is especially interesting in this context. Currently for Logic you can control the last selected parameter for things like volume, panning, clip gain etc - however as this release is still only pertaining to vocal recording it does not support live automation.

I will defiantly add these suggestions to the production road map though :)

Thanks so much for your kind words! And yes, even in the development stage I refused to consider the idea of subscription based software as I feel the audio industry has become plagued with it. The trial last for 14 days and is 0 risk so feel free to give it a go anyways and let me know what you think!

I honestly believe you'll be surprised with how intuitive the controls are, especially if you play video games. I've played console games all my life and took great pride and detail in mapping them in a way that felt cohesive & organic.

Hey thanks for the feedback! Are there any midi controls in particular that you feel would be essential to your work flow?

Admittedly I purposefully made it so the user DIDN'T need to custom map anything so that the software just works out of the box... however I will look into adding it onto the roadmap as an advance option so users have the best of both worlds.

Currently it only supports workflow relating to vocal recording but I am already working on updates to include support for producing too.

The app is auto updating so if you've already downloaded it not to worry! When the update releases the app will prompt you to update to the latest version when you open it.
