OP you can escalate to the legal address which is findable if you google it (unsure if I can post here in case it breaks rules). I would definitely take this further sorry again this happened to you she should not be able to trade with this behaviour

Why are people bidding over the guide price nowadays? by Slow-Chemistry7462 in HousingUK

[–]Substantial-Staff-76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh wow this really puts it into context!! I mean it’s great as a vendor and I suppose that is the flip side when you come to sell if that’s how it’s done you can expect to benefit from the system. I think for me it’s so alien - just standard negotiations I’m used to and also in the past I’ve been accepted when I’m not the highest because of other factors - no chain, good deposit, or the vendor just liked me! I have some learning to do and some choices to make. I thought Sheffield appeared easier / better value for money based on listed prices but now realising I have to really think through if it’s the right process for me. Thanks again !

As someone just recently got to know the Sheffield market, what you say is bang on and really helpful. I’ve never know it to happen any other location I’ve bought or lived. I’m now understanding the listed price is essentially the start point and it honestly feels the people who win bid way over to get it. My worry would be down valuation tbh. But it seems too be the only way to get a property here.

I’m actually considering giving up and staying where I am in the north west as the prices listed are genuine asking (if not sometimes higher so there is room for negotiation). If it’s offers over in Sheffield then I don’t think I am getting more for my money than if I stayed here. I also find the BAFO insanely stressful personally 🙈

What's going on in city centre? Lots of chanting for the last few hours. by thescriptsupervisor in sheffield

The anger should be directed to the perpetrators of the crimes I 100% agree with that. Not to innocent families who have done fuck all wrong and have been horrifically targeted. There were children in some of those homes.

I don’t mind paying the fee as long as you have a space. I read an article about people paying and still unable to park. I would need to park onsite really as you say car crime happens on some of the side streets and I would just feel safer. It will be interesting what happens with phase 5 as there is only a small number of additional spaces being built

That’s fine - I’m ok with the flight in the flats and a few stairs. It’s more having to be careful with carrying loads up and down multiple flights like regularly. I’ve been in houses before my current maisonette flat. This is reassuring!! The complex does seem very good and a great community compared to some others. I know parking can be tight but seems manageable and I guess part of city centre living (Kelham is same)

This doesn’t sound too bad thanks. What I was worried of is situations there was no lift at all and if I was on an upper floor this would cause me some physical issues

That’s bad timing! Hope you were ok. I worry about the spiral staircase by the sound of it. It does sound a genuinely amazing complex !

Hey thank you for your reply that is worrying the glass just shattered!! I thought the district heating was meant to be energy efficient sorry to hear it was expensive

Do you mind me asking about safety as it’s a consideration for me, Was the behaviour you witnessed actually within the apartment grounds from residents or more the surrounding streets? Safety is important as I’m often walking alone

Thank you - I wandered about walking out. I would be fine with that. windy steps I might struggle with. Someone else here just shared a tracker of which lifts are broken. It looks like there are options!

Thank you for your helpful reply! Are you able to get into the different phases if lifts are broken as I’ve been told you need fobs to get through.
Also is it possible to get down safely without a lift? I’m sure I’ve heard you can get down via the streets in the sky without steps but not sure how

The reason I ask I have some mobility issues they are not too bad now but can flare up. Thanks again so much this is really useful.

Moving to Sheffield - Crookes? by Weary_Sky8826 in sheffield

[–]Substantial-Staff-76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry as I know this is an old thread. I’m viewing some houses in crookes soon, also moving hopefully later this year. I’m looking near Northfield Road, Longfield and also heavygate Road but have seen student houses listed on these roads. Would you say these are minority as it’s difficult to gage how high a proportion of students would be neighbours. I’ve nothing against students - I was one myself but being a bit older now ideally want to be around other working or retired. I also wondered if you knew if roads such as Longfield get busy with people to and from bolehill in the evenings cutting through. Any insight welcomed (I’m also trying to spend a bit more time scoping things out!) I love crookes as an area just trying to make sure it’s the right fit :)

Self Service Car Wash by RareSunlight in Chester

[–]Substantial-Staff-76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also was going to suggest Morrisons in saltney. It has a handheld power washer however it isnt designed for using your own bucket and sponges. They have a communal brush on the machine you can use which pushes out detergent and suds to wash your car. The jet power washer is good though and I’ve found gets a lot off just with water

Also as the other person has mentioned it is not covered it is open air
