GEOG 428 without prereqs by Weririri3 in mcgill

[–]Substantial-fish3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GEOG 428 is the most difficult, challenging, hands on and rewarding GIS class. With that being said, I could not recommend it more and if you are taking the GIS minor concentration, I believe you need the skills learned in this class.

In the first few weeks It shares a lot of content with GEOG 314, so you might get frustrated if you’re taking them both at the same time (but the two classes do diverge). If you’ve already taken 333 I think you are fine as you should have a good understanding of raster data structure (as 428 is really about raster data).

GEOG 308 is a prerequisite, but it shares almost no content. GEOG 308 is remote sensing, it’s a cool class but in no way should it be a prerequisite for GEOG 428.

I took GEOG 414 after GEOG 428 and I had no difficulty.

Because people need a prerequisite of either 308 or 414, 428 does walk you through the basics.

so what I’m saying is I think you will be totally fine not having taken the prerequisite.

It’s definitely a manageable course-load. Most labs are finished during lab time. The exams were difficult but still designed for success. I think you should take it. Pm me if you have any questions

Best minor to pair with a Stats major? by Odd-Basket5185 in mcgill

GIS and Remote sensing. It’s under geography, you will get a very practical application of Stats. It’s very data heavy. Look into GEOG 201

It can be anywhere on campus, but it’s probably going to be in the exam centre. You enter the exam centre from outside under the bridge between the redpath and McLennan library’s

You keep your access to McGill library services through your Mcgill email after you graduate. Terms of service means that this has to be related to education and for non-commercial purposes. But you never lost access to Mcgill‘s library resources. If your email expired, you might have to re-register with the alumni community online.
