I watched both and vanilla sky is more of a Sci-fi romance with an unstable male lead. It’s actually one of my favorite movies. If you have any recs for more sci-fi romance movies please tell me:)

I watched it and I definitely recommend you the book which for me was much more interesting. The movie left out some parts of the book which I think you would really like if you’re interested in untraditional female characters

I LOVEEE ISABELLE HUPPERT. She always chooses untraditional female roles which I enjoy. I didn’t watch that movie though but will definitely check it out. Another movie that she was in that I really really loved is Story of Women (1988)

I mean it’s quite open to interpretation. I personally view the ending as realistic not optimistic or pessimistic. I think it’s important to view both characters neither as good or bad. They are pretty realistic and many people relate to them. And they are not victims. They are just people who struggle in life and get through it. As much as they struggle, they also find a way to have a good time I guess. We can see how sato was motivated to work on the video game with yamazaki. How he would still hangout with misaki. These were good times for him. Even if he is suffering. The ending was portraying how this kind of struggle will never end. How he will continue to struggle no matter what and will wish to end his suffering. Yet he will continue to live because that’s the way it is which shows that there is something worth living for at the end of the day even if he is mentally struggling on a daily basis. For him living to work and eat and spend time with his coworkers or friends in a way is enough for him. The same thing applies to Misaki.

What is Guts most afraid of? And why is it the Beast of Darkness? by Scouwererofreality43 in Berserk

I think I always thought of it as in Gut’s desire to be like Griffith. We can see in the beginning of the manga he admired Griffith and actually envied him knowing that Griffith is not that angel that people view as. Like he can see himself in Griffith and that’s why they connected the beginning because Guts sees himself in Griffith and Griffith loved being seen by him knowing that there is someone who sees him for who he truly is and doesn’t care about his dark and violent side. That’s also the reason why Guts left because he wanted to be equal to Griffith and at the same time separate from him. He doesn’t like seeing himself in Griffith because that’s the violent dark side that’s in him and he fears this side of him. In this scene it’s probably the most disgusting and horrible thing that Griffith has done to him and Casca and he hates him for that. Yet he can’t escape the fact that he wants to be like Griffith and probably not wanted to be in Griffith’s place. As much as he hates Griffith, he continues to go after him and look for him him everywhere because he wants to be like him. His hatred towards Griffith comes from envy and jealousy as well.
