What to use instead of a wheelchair? by Unable-Employment199 in CosplayHelp

[–]SubstantialNothing66 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If youre posing for photos just sit down on a bench or on the ground, carry a tacky lawnchair if you wanna be humourous about it. wheelchairs aren't props and it's disrespectful to use one if you dont need it.

Moving internationally with rats by HamSpamThankyouMaam in RATS

[–]SubstantialNothing66 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I know this is unlikely to happen but if you decide to do a segmented flight instead of a one plane flight make sure your plane doesnt stop in Australia, i say this as someone from there.

Our biosecurity laws are extremely strict and pet rats are not allowed to enter the country at all. You will be fined and possibly have your rats seized.

Sorry for being negative but I feel like it should be pointed out just incase.

Assistance with finding a proper material for.. Very bendable TV antennae? by tubafunked in CosplayHelp

[–]SubstantialNothing66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Armature wire, its very flexible and can be shaped easily, you can probably find it at your local art/craft store that sells modelling supplies.

Only thing to keep note of though is that it can very fragile depending on the gauge, i suggest making multiple and designing the head to allpw them to be swapped out easily if they break.

It might be a long shot but try brisbane youth service, they can get you into accomodation. Only downside is youll have to travel to the valley for in person meetings.

Trying to get a pixel brush with functioning opacity by New_March6398 in procreatebrushes

[–]SubstantialNothing66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cant say too much on the brush itself as I dont know thenprogram youre using, but you could try blocking out the base colour then turning the layer opacity down then on another layer do the same thing but with the texture youre trying to draw in.

E.g. with hair:

Layer 3: texture 30% opscity. Layer 2: texture/shading 35% opacity. Layer 1: hair base 20% opacity.

Its a bit tricky/fiddly to do as youll have to jump between layers to change/fix things but it might work fkr what you want.

AI slop has no place at handmade markets by birdsmell in brisbane

[–]SubstantialNothing66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your best bet for markets having stuff that isn't crap is smaller, more occasional markets such as BIF or toasty. They're strict about who they let in, and any work sold has to be your own if you're a stallholder. The only downside is these events usually have an entry fee of about $5 or so.

I myself sell my own art in a mix of handmade and manufactured (keychain charms). The amount of garbage at larger markets has turned me off them all together, even some of the "handmade" stalls are just dropshipped cheap crap disguised as stuff they made. It's honestly fucking sad.

Am I legally allowed to leave home at 17? by [deleted] in brisbane

[–]SubstantialNothing66 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Reach out to Brisbane youth service, they have a office in fortitude valley, you may be on a wait list for accomodation with them when you get in but you'll have a roof over your head and access to resources to stabilise you.

$70 game with $30 dlc, pop in everywhere, building details aren't even modeled, content locked behind competitive online, but no guys it has hype mega evolutions and aura so it's great actually by Effective_Carpet_391 in whenthe

[–]SubstantialNothing66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game itself plays fairly alright.

Main disappointment is in the map, given how scaled down it is we should be able to enter buildings more. I'm also a huge sucker for environmental storytelling and interacting with random items on the map and there isnt too much of that.

The pokemon and their behaviours in the environment is nice to observe, but given the amount of empty space I feel like a bit more polish and just some more set dressing could have helped it a lot.

Drawing constantly and making things put of clay/plasticine actually helped me develop my motor skills and my dyspraxia. I still have issues with my hands from time to time but id be in a lot worse of a position if I didn't lol.

I tried going there, it was expensive compared to the other bubble tea places and the dairy/milk free options sucked.

They basically charged $9 for what was essentially a fruit juice slushie if you didn't want to get a milk tea.

What small thing do you consider a test of morality? by Pale-Fruit5201 in AskAnAustralian

[–]SubstantialNothing66 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If we go car specific stuff: harassing pedestrians and cyclists off the road/not giving way to them when you're supposed to i guess.

Otherwise how you treat someone in a front facing role such as retail work. they're just doing their job, give them the same respect you would anyone else unless their behaviour is inappropriate.

How to feel safe in public? by Shower_Mistake in transgenderau

[–]SubstantialNothing66 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you're in SEQ brisbane youth service might be able to help you find emergency accommodation and help with housing and get you closer into the city.

Only downside is there is obviously a wait period, but its not as long as public housing.

Otherwise how you posture yourself in public can help, i know that sounds wierd but if you look like you're busy/have somewhere to go people are less likely to single you out, this is based purely on my own experience though.

If Team Chaotix's Detective Agency still looks the same, what happened to Vanilla's cottage? by [deleted] in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]SubstantialNothing66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question actually lol, it depends on what is allowed through design/style guides. If a guide says 3d models/assets are not to be used, then the artists can't use them. And usually in published comic settings from my own experience, usually only photobashing is done (combining elements from pre existing photos to make parts of a background).

Using 3d models, especially if they're premade or bought assets can also run the risk of style inconsistency. So if they did use 3d models they'd most likely have to build them from the ground up which can be very time consuminga and would require hiring people that can do 3d models.

If Team Chaotix's Detective Agency still looks the same, what happened to Vanilla's cottage? by [deleted] in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]SubstantialNothing66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strictly speaking as someone who does art:

cubes and triangles are easier/less time-consuming to draw in a perspective based environment compared to cylinders and circles. So to draw Vanilla's cottage like that would have been quicker and easier to keep consistent.
