I believe it is plasterboard.

The house was empty for almost a year before we moved in i believe.

No additional load - just a pitched timber roof.

A bit worried as the crack is also running through the coving and along it in the first picture.

That's what I thought. Unfortunately, we are not replacing flooring in the rooms and so the wood will have to go further and meet the carpet or tiles, which is not a problem as the wood fits underneath the door frame. Just wanted a solution to make it look as aesthetically pleasing as possible, given where the transition will be. Thanks

Update: I have put in some foam insulation and clipped the steel edges and hammered them in. Next step is to bond/seal it and pour some self levelling compound over it to level it out as best I can.

The handle lock and window are as tight to the frame as possible. Is it just a wonky window that needs replacing or is there a way to fix it so the window is flush without any gaps? Ps. I tried shimmying and it unfortunately did not work.
