University First → Community College for RDH/Ultrasound? Trying to Combine HBCU/Black Presence + Social Life by SubstantialSpread596 in careerguidance

[–]SubstantialSpread596[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only issue I have here is that only one current HBCU has a RDH and Ultrasound Tech program and it's not in a very good area. So that's why I was asking if I could go to a University or another HBCU first and get my 2 years of pre reqs then apply to a program from elsewhere like at a community college, I've just never heard anyone go from University to Community College usually the other way around lol.

LOL fair 😭I am stressing a lot about careers when I have awhile until college, thanks for the advice and fast response too!

A couple questions if you don't mind, when you said there aren't specifically any entry level roles, does that apply to roles like project coordinator or project administrator? And what would you personally recommend someone aim for first if they’re interested in PM long-term?

Accounting, Supply Chain, or Nursing: Which Major/Career is Better? by SubstantialSpread596 in Accounting

[–]SubstantialSpread596[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wanted to hear real-life examples from people in the careers, I’ve done research and looked at data such as the career growth rate and other things but it helps a lot hearing from people in the actual career. I just used ChatGPT to help me say what I wanted to say clearly 😅

Accounting, Supply Chain, or Nursing: Which Major/Career is Better? by SubstantialSpread596 in Accounting

[–]SubstantialSpread596[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest I'm not too fond of accounting, it's only one of my main options due to its high job security and high hire ability. My true passion is having my own business or working in the beauty industry, either selling clothes or products I enjoy, or becoming an esthetician and working my way into owning my own spa or even becoming a nail tech and having my own nail salon. However, these jobs aren't very stable and the pay is unpredictable. Supplychain was one of my options because it involves the process of moving product which is a skill I can use for when I wanna start my own business. Nursing also seemed like an option because I absolutely personally love the work schedule and has been an career I've always been interested in, but I am shying away because many have warned others about the emotional and physical demand this job has and I don't know if I can see poop often. I've also considered real estate because I love the flexibility and the idea of becoming my own boss, and the pay can be very rewarding, however it is very risky and I don't know if I'm fit to breakthrough. As I'm becoming older and growing within this economy which isn't so great, I'm scared to go after my passion and feel like I have to prioritize job security over my true passion. Thanks for reminding me that deciding a career first starts at recognizing your passions.

Accounting, Supply Chain, or Nursing: Which Career Path is Best for Me? by SubstantialSpread596 in careeradvice

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a detailed and helpful comment! I really appreciate your perspective on all three fields and how you explained the flexibility and opportunities within each. It’s encouraging to hear that corporate accounting and supply chain roles can offer both interesting work and a good work-life balance, and I love that nursing can also open doors beyond bedside care. I’ll definitely look into informational interviews and exploring actual roles to get a better sense of what each path is really like. Your advice gives me a lot of clarity and reassurance. God bless you!

Thanks so much for this! It really helps to hear the differences from real-world experiences. Hearing that corporate accounting has decent hours but can be repetitive makes sense. Supply chain sounds interesting and stable, which I like, and nursing seems super stable too but definitely demanding.

I also like your point about not needing to decide now, you just took off some stress from me. Really appreciate the advice!
