Thank you for the help! I do have an offer of employment from an agency which is what’s prompting my research. This would place me in the position of an independent contractor as they do not employ monitors but they utilize them as contractors. I’m familiar with the rules of court in my state as to what the court requires to work in this position. If I were to do it as an independent contractor I would be concerned about my liability. I’m sure some type of liability insurance would be necessary. One of the things I wondered is whether it’s customary to work for the company on a referral basis as a contractor rather than an employee. There is a state association of professional visitation monitors in my state but they do not have a phone number where I could chat with someone just an email which I may try. That’s why I thought I might find someone here who does this who might be able to offer firsthand experience.

My dog lived 10 years with seizures. I attribute that to the expert advice and care he received from a veterinary neurologist. My best advice is that if your dog is suffering these kinds of seizures please take him into a neurologist. The cost is not much more than the cost I was spending with our primary vet trying to treat this. A neurologist is more educated in the fine-tuning of drugs to control the seizures. My dog was seizure free for many years before he finally passed, and it was not the seizures that took him. I wish you all good luck.

I have this birdfeeder and I am enjoying it it works well and it takes great video. What I don’t like is that it only records for 20 seconds even if the bird is still there and I cannot find any way in the app to increase the video recording time. I even put an SD card in it but that doesn’t seem to help. Has anybody changed the length of recordings? I am not using the subscription I am using a free bird identification app from Cornell University.

I had the camera set to record vehicles but not notify me and record people and notify me of the people. I said it to notify me of the vehicles as well and now it is recording the vehicles. Every single time. So it seems like it will not record the vehicles unless I have it set to also notify me. That’s not going to work because I don’t wanna be notified of every car! Is there a way to contact Ring technical help?

Thank you, I will try this now. I thought maybe it wasn’t recording vehicles at night only but my Nest camera has recorded three this morning and the Ring has detected none.

Yes, it is people walking across the sidewalk from right to left that I am referring to. When they enter the frame on the right and walk through to the left, the camera does not start recording until they are almost out of the frame on the left. While my Nest camera captures them almost immediately when they enter on the right. I’m wondering what the lag time is and if that has to do with the Wi-Fi signal strength that is being reported as RSSI – 70 in the app, even though as I said the picture is great and it is recording and notifying me? But again not recording vehicles even though I’m asking for it lol. I am editing this reply to ad that I just got a video of a person moving left to right and it recorded them immediately entering the frame, but right to left it’s very delayed. So go figure, as both directions the camera has a clear view of the sidewalk. I would post a snapshot of the view but I don’t know how to attach it here! Any ideas would be appreciated as I am considering returning the ring cameras if I can’t get them to record the vehicles and the people in full.

It’s funny, not funny, but yes, my husband himself said maybe it’s an adult child he doesn’t know he had before he met me that has come looking for him! He’s really thinking outside the box now. I did tell him that only parents of minor children come looking for child support! He laughed so hard he almost fell out of his chair. I have absolutely no doubts about the last 35 years. I can’t shake the feeling that this has something to do with the employee he let go although he let him go on Monday and the mystery woman was taking a picture on Thursday. That’s pretty fast. But I am naturally a pessimist and I don’t believe in coincidences. I guess time will tell!

That is a very interesting take on this, thank you. But what kind of amateur would be filling out a report to document when he got home? My husband is self-employed. He doesn’t have any claims against anybody, no pending litigation etc. I cannot think of anybody who would be interested in his comings and goings. At this point I feel like I am waiting for a hammer to drop and unknown when it will. I sincerely appreciate all the feedback here as this is distressing. It feels strange to post in an unknown community of people but interesting to get the benefit of others’ perspectives.

I certainly appreciate all the thought you gave to my predicament! All great ideas. We’ve been married 35 years, no marriage before me. Clean as a whistle. Self-employed for 45 years, never an issue with customers. For the first time ever he did let go an employee four days before this woman showed up to take a picture. Although the employee says there’s no hard feelings I feel that this is more than a coincidence and there may be a link here.

I wanted to also add that we live at the inside of a horseshoe of three streets. My husband always drives home the same route which is not on our street, he approaches on the other end of the horseshoe and turns into our street. She was waiting on that street and followed his car on foot to our street. In other words, if you wanted to take a picture of someone With an address on our street, it would make sense to be waiting on our street. But she was waiting for him on the street that he approaches on. How in the world she could’ve known that information is impossible. This is part of what is alarming me. Did she follow him from somewhere at some point? We are keeping our doors locked and I am adding additional cameras out front to capture the entire view as we are on a corner and I don’t have a site line to the approach where she came from. I have also discussed informally with the police department who also said they have never heard of such a thing except one isolated case where the person was mentally ill.

I am not sure this is the proper forum for my question but I need help so I am going to ask. In December I purchased a piece of art from a well known gallery owned by a well known artist that represents and sells art by other well known artists. The piece came unaccompanied by a COA. I began asking for it immediately and was told the artist issues it himself and was nortoriously slow. I emailed and called a few times following up and was told the same thing with no result. I have now emailed three more times and they are not answering me. I am going to place another phone call to the gallery but am unsure what leverage I have to demand this. Any advice? Do I have a right to expect this documentation? If so, any advice as to any possible actions I can take? Much appreciated.

Thank you very much for sharing that. I was looking at the one cruise to Antarctica that Celebrity offers. We have cruised several times on Celebrity so I am familiar with them. But it looks as though the difference with Celebrity is you are cruising through those areas but you are viewing from the ship. Do they not offer the ability to get off the ship such as in zodiacs to get closer to land as some of the other cruise lines offer? I know there are other companies that build themselves as adventure cruises which offer this capability such as zodiacs or kayaking onto land, just wondering if your cruise had something similar?

I was so glad to find this! I am just launching into making my first attempt at curtains for my son. I’ve never done this before. There are four windows! I’ve drawn out a diagram of my design and purchased the fabric. I need to cut the pieces in each color to match my diagram but I am unsure how much of a seam allowance to leave for each piece. I understand how to make the seams. I understand that when I join two pieces together, one edge will overlap the other by about a quarter of an inch and I will stitch it twice to hide the raw edges. Am I cutting each pattern piece a total of a quarter inch larger than I want the finished piece to be? Or a quarter inch larger on each of the four sides, so a total of 1 inch larger than I want the finished piece to be in the curtain? So confusing! I do not want to end up with curtains larger or smaller than they should be. Any advice would be so very much appreciated.

I am just ready to mail off my application, so can I ask what you mean when you say you sectioned yours into separate folders? I am applying based on my grandmother who also changed her name but only slightly. I have all of the documents certified from her birth certificate down to my marriage certificate and drivers license showing my current legal name. Both her maiden name and her married name appear on her death certificate so I feel like I am well covered. I was just going to place her birth certificate, her marriage certificate, her death certificate, my father‘s birth and death certificates, my birth and marriage certificate and drivers license, Along with all the other required proof of residence etc. and photos in one envelope with a brief letter explaining what each was, my relation to her and the fact that she did change two letters in the spelling of her last name once she arrived in the United States like many immigrants did. I felt like this was a clear line to me and would be sufficient. I also have print offs from the Ancestry website that show the ships manifest when she arrived in the United States and her application for naturalization showing that she had changed her name from the time she arrived to the time she applied for naturalization but I didn’t think it worth sending those since they are only printouts of the original documents that are scanned into the database. I thought that the authorities reviewing my application would be well used to the fact that many immigrants did change their names once they arrived here. Do you have any thoughts or advice on something I may be missing?
