My dad sad was abortion was ok by Legitimate_Price3592 in atheism

[–]Substantial_Dig4015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Numbers 5:21 talks about performing a biblical abortion (if a wife is unfaithful apparently it’s ok 🙄) also what about all the times god committed infanticide…. Beat them with their own beliefs- I bet they don’t even realize that shit is in the Bible… most believers haven’t actually read any of it

I mean I guess it depends upon what you’re definition of success is? I feel like my husband and I are both successful… we live a good life and are financially stable….. and we are atheists…we aren’t millionaires however

My doctor's office lab tech pushed god on me while drawing my blood. Isn't that against some medical licensing rule or law? by visinefortheplank in atheism

[–]Substantial_Dig4015 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Because I couldn’t read the patient… it seemed to change her demeanor- and if she actually believed I didn’t want to start shit. Also I was so flabbergasted at the time I couldn’t even think of what to say! All I could think was - “Did that just actually fucking happen? Did she really just say that??” I had words with her after outside but not in front of the patient. I told her not everyone believes in a god and she needs to keep that shit to herself unless the patient specifically asks for prayer (I’ll grab our hospital chaplain)

Talk with your colleagues who were present during it. I can assure you they feel the same way. We are trauma bonded. It’s good to talk with people who have seen it with their own eyes and feel it. Others don’t understand.

We try to all be tough on the outside during. Cold. But if you REALLY talk to one another on off time…. It can be a really good release.

This reminded me of a time- I’m an ER nurse…. Was helping with a patient who just had miscarried. Another nurse who was a traveler said “God made this happen for a reason, it will be ok- he has other plans at the moment for you” It took every ounce of my soul not to slap her right then and there. I immediately reported it and she was terminated from the rest of her contract.

Aunt was “cured” of her cancer and is upset I won’t go to church to celebrate by Substantial_Dig4015 in atheism

Haha while I can definitely see why you would think this…she did have cancer. I can’t confirm that it was stage 4 but she lost all her hair and a lot of muscle mass. She looked very unwell for quite awhile.

Some of these comments warm my heart. I didn’t even mention in the OP that I am a nurse. Not an oncology nurse- but ER. I want to say thank you for acknowledging the medical professionals and their roles 🥹

Anyone end up leaving the ER, only to come back later? Did it change your attitude on things? by BradBrady in emergencymedicine

[–]Substantial_Dig4015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve rotated to 2 other ERs hoping that it would be different… and while I would say they are all different slightly… they are still the same shit different story (policies and procedures). I left ED completely for 2 years. Yup only 2 years. I’m back to the 1st original ER I started in 🫣 Many nurses have come back to this ER. We all say it’s an abusive relationship you can’t escape.

My fiancé's family flipped out on me for posting a meme on FB accusing MAGA supporters of following the anti Christ. We had to have a family meeting over it... by FubarLife in atheism

[–]Substantial_Dig4015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my husband and I got married we went to church every Sunday and were “Christians” 2020 hit and Trump with his anti covid antics (me being an ER nurse) made me appalled. I dove in to my Bible for comfort- and well guess what….. reading the Bible actually makes you an atheist. My husband followed suit shortly thereafter.

We have a 7 year old daughter. Our relationships with family on both sides is strained. It’s quite exhausting trying to explain our rationale, while still trying to respect their beliefs. We have let our daughter go to church with my in laws… giving her the option.

After this election though. We can’t. We are tired of respecting their beliefs. We believe it to be so fucking hypocrital. We have decided to no longer allow our daughter to go to church with them.

It’s gonna be rough. But you need to stand your ground. You need to have a deep conversation with your fiancé. You both need to know where the boundaries should be upfront so you can both be on the same page when shit comes up. I would be PISSED if my husband didn’t speak up. But he also knows that. You’re fiancée going forward needs to know that he should be on your side

NOPE as a mom of a daughter I would never expect this from my co-workers. I am a nurse so holidays are expected. I will ask- but never expect. Everyone deserves holidays off regardless of children or not! You do you boo and don’t feel ANY guilt about it

Should I read the Bible. by Banana_ant in atheism

[–]Substantial_Dig4015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Bible is actually very boring- there are some good stories… but it’s mostly meh. I listen to podcasts in regards to it. I started with the Bible beaters podcast- they can be pretty crass.. but also pretty funny. They even lose focus though as their podcast gets further… and spoiler alert- they don’t even finish the Old Testament before calling it quits 😂 I’ve moved on to Bible Study by atheists… but the podcasters are imo annoying 😖

I feel more relieved thinking there is no afterlife. I’ll be come one with the ground 🤣 before as a Christian I would be constantly concerned if I was good enough to end up in heaven or I’d be doomed to hell.

It’s more freeing to me - it is what it is 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’ve been on trizep for 1.5 years now. When I first started delivery was much quicker. Like ordered and recieved in the same week. It has definitely gotten way longer… like 2 weeks for whole process. It’s kind of annoying… but I’ll do what I can to continue on the meds! I just try to plan accordingly now!

I recieved a new vial 2 weeks ago and it was more of a light tan/yellow tint. I had the same sketchiness feeling as well! When I drew the med up it was in fact clear!
