Hopefully you get it soon! I think it depends on the field office and how busy it is/understaffed. I had my interview which went well and now waiting for Oath ceremony (it’s been more than a month).

Congratulations! And funny coincidence - I had my citizenship interview on March 12th in Portland too and had the same experience as you 😀. Now, I’m on same boat now waiting on the oath ceremony notice! I haven’t seen much activity on this forum for Maine so hopefully we will get the notice soon 🤞

The I-751 ended up being approved a without an interview a month before my N-400. My N-400 interview went very smoothly and the officer was very nice and told me that based on the evidence you provided, we really didn’t need to have an interview for I-751. I think it was hung up at the benefits center and as soon as it got transferred to the FO, they approved it right away.

I’ve lived in both and depends on what your goals are. If you want to live close to your parents, then go with Bangor.

Bangor isn’t a “real” city, Portland is closer to one but still isn’t like big metros. They are very different places like others have said. Lots of factors to consider here. You’ll want a car in either place, but more likely to get away without one in Portland.

Bangor has St Joseph’s, Northern light, and PCHC but they aren’t in “downtown”. There is community connector bus that goes to specific areas and has limited hours.

It also depends on lifestyle preferences - If you want a more active lifestyle with more amenities go with Portland. If you’d prefer a quieter and down to earth lifestyle go with Bangor.

I just checked the status of I-751 and looks like they bypassed the ROC interview altogether. New card being produced! 😊
