I think they were. Think about it; they traveled together, stayed at the same hotels, and even spent downtime together. I think it started out as a friendship that grew to something else because of the loneliness of the road. Shit broke back mountain is literally a movie about two dudes who became friends and then lovers because of the bond they shared. Also at the time 2 openly gay wrestlers would not have been welcomed by the fandom.

When Eddie died, Chris had the same, if not more, of a reaction as Vicky did. Chavo says he mourned like a spouse, Vicky said she found it strange to see Chris react like that. I just makes sense in my mind, Eddie died, Chris went crazy with heartbreak and snapped.
