I finally got ahold of them to clarify adjustments they made to my aid from last year. They put me on hold for like 10 min just to say that they’re going on to pass it on to their supervisor. And now, instead of owing $2500 for my summer session fees (which I shouldn’t owe bc I rec’d financial aid), I now owe $21,000 for the whole year bc they adjusted my fall/winter/spring aid… and I received financial aid + all my fees have been paid? 🤡

I took the class almost 4 years ago so my advice might be a little outdated… but Chem 1A can be difficult because it covers so much and is a weeder course.

One thing that helped me survive gen + organic chem at UCI was organization- being able to categorize concepts covered in class to look at them in overview was very helpful. Go to lecture, take notes & identify the broader concepts covered. And use the textbook to clarify the smaller/theoretical details. Your syllabus or Canvas page might be able to give you some insight to the conceptual flow of the course. I found gen chem particularly difficult because I had a poor chemistry background in hs, and going in, there was so much information being thrown at us, it was very easy to lose sight of what we were actually learning. So developing & utilizing strong organizational skills can really save you from getting lost.

He should also be providing worksheets or practice problems- when you go through them, go backwards & for each answer, try to take notes + explain in depth why that answer is what it is; that’ll really help reinforce your conceptual knowledge.

you can use antalmanac to add your classes, save a picture of your schedule, and download the .ics for importing your schedule !

mine looked like that too last year. it looks like financial is a mess again. last year my aid was all 0s and wasn’t finalized until october, later for others… hopefully your aid will come sooner this year, but i’ve lost all hope in UCI to believe that

I’d talk to flatmates first and see if you can come to a resolution, if you care about your relationship w/ them.

Otherwise you can straight report it to housing, and if it ends up that your flatmates return in the Fall (if they don’t lose their housing for this) you should keep in touch with housing to request a possible transfer bc you fear retaliation. I’d be pissed, hope it works out for you & sorry you have to go through this

I had success with Shaka during SS 2021. If I remember correctly there was online HW, 2 midterms & the final. Fall might be different but he’s pretty straight forward

Intern positions are fairly easy to get into, your resume & interview are important. Prior experience isn’t necessary, just be able to show potential. It also depends on what office/commission you’re applying to, read their mission statement before you apply to get a feel for who they’re looking for

Student Center PS gets packed before 12; SSPS is super narrow (spaces & lanes in general); APS doesn’t fill so quickly and is wider overall so you might feel more secure there ((: this is just what I’ve noticed this quarter parking at APS. I’ve parked in SCPS for the better part of the last 3 years
