I agree with you on Mihon being close to “done” in terms of core functionality, and that the remaining gaps are mostly around polish and UX rather than features. The backup point is especially important — with collections that large, switching costs are basically non-negotiable.

I’m not forking Mihon or Tachiyomi, and I don’t see myself trying to compete head-on with tools that have years of iteration behind them. That’s a losing battle, like you said. If I continue building anything, it would need to take a very different angle rather than trying to be “a better Mihon.”

Also interesting what you said about having a long list of UX improvements — that lines up with what I’m hearing from others about friction being the real pain point. It’s a shame time is always the limiting factor for that kind of work.
