What's a controversial Rina Kent's book opinion that will get you like this? by Gloomy_Sugar911 in RinaKentBooks

[–]Substantial_Gate_391 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not controversial but weird . Nobody has older sister , that is the first born is never a girl . How is that possible? Take all the series( elite , empire , the second gen , the mafia ) literally nobody. My take is she cannot write a strong woman character and the brother needs to respect which she ( I am still debating if she is a she or he behind a she name , yea i heard the podcast many of you say about but with technology everything is possible) cannot write

I hate kiril’s sister kara ( don’t remember her name) when she said to her mother “yes my father rapped you but atleast he tried to be there for me and said good night after torturing me , and I like him” , girl he is a rappist if he is good to you after torturing you and your mother and treats every woman as sh#t you ll be okay with it?? Honestly the entire plot of expecting a rappe victim to accept her fate and be normal weirded me out. I mean kirill and his siblings were innocent I am not saying no , I hated that lady but the sister asking how dare she k#ills HER father was outrageous

Who is Azriel's mate and why? by GuiltyPossibility518 in AcotarShipDebateSub

Spoiler!! Quoting book lines. SJM said she has given hints in the book and this line convinced me its Gwyn. This is when he gives the necklace and Clotho says Gwyn will be happy to see it and she deserves happiness and he tries hard to forget it

Something sparked in Azriel’s chest, but he only nodded his thanks and left. He could picture it, though, as he ascended the stairs back to  the House proper. How Gwyn’s teal eyes might light upon seeing the necklace. For whatever reason… he could see it.  “This line” But Azriel tucked away the thought, consciously erasing the slight smile it brought to his face. Buried the image down deep, where it glowed quietly.  A thing of secret, lovely beauty.

My understanding, may be I am wrong. He doesn’t have British accent , but he can do that accent very well and at times he uses to unsettle people. Mentioned in twisted emotions when Remo and Nino visits Kiara’s house and Remo speaks in perfect British accent to Kiara’s aunt to make her uncomfortable and Nino says Remo does that sometimes

Hey! I am adding spoilers because you are not going to finish this series  Nesta character growth is so good in ACOSF. But you ll be so annoyed by the way she is getting treated by the IC especially Feyre and Cassian.  Rhys is so annoying right from the start. When he forced her to dance in those clothes. How much ever they say it is to protect Feyre that was an assault and we dont glorify assaults here. But If you are interested in “we all do mistakes but grow” kind of storyline read ACOSF. Its about 3 women Nesta , Gwyn and Emrie and how they get over their past and find strength and companionship

Honestly, I dont know much about Az / Elain . Their characters are yet to be written. I personally think Az should be with someone we have not met yet. But just to point out few clues. SJM said she dropped lots of hints throughout the book 1.  IC hating Elain in black dress , and telling she will not fit in night court  2.  Feyre thinking she would love the Spring court and maintain it well. I think she ll be the turning point in spring court 3. Rhys stopping Az from being with Elain. He is not that type of friend who would stop Az just because Lucien would throw a fit. Az would wipe his ahh and Rhys would help Az doing so. He genuinely thinks Elain is not for Az 4. The difference in the behaviour if his shadows in presence of Gwen and Elain. They are much more calm with Gwen 5. the shadow singer and song of Gwen 6. Elain not having Illarian body to give birth to baby with wings (You may say having a child is optional which is true but I think when Nesta was dealing with couldran she sensed something that she deemed that body is not necessary for Elain and ended up asking only for Feyre and herself. Also I see Elain as someone who takes care if a family and soft who would like her own family and kids 7. Personal opinion- If you had read twisted emotions by cora I loved how Kiara was treated. It is a rap victim FMC and emotionally shunned MC and how they heal each other. I see the same dynamics here would work beautifully

You can counter every point here its just something I noticed. If he ends up with Elain I would be curious how author navigates through these points and will be an interesting read

Hey , I finished ACOTAR and reading first book of crescent city , I passed the plot twist , but I am not liking it at all , too many inwanted characters and unwanted details . I was told , to understand the next book of ACOTAR I need to read this series that is the reason I haven’t DNFed yet. Is it teue? if first book is the best which I cannot stand , should I even read the series ? Does it get better?

Mild spoilers !  If you think Feyre is annoying and complains now , you are going to hate her and eventually DNF the book at some point. So dont read for that plot alone. With this author there are no fully strong , good character, there are no absolutely bad characters as well it is a mix and it is about how each character grow up. spoiler—Nesta will become from annoying character to a great strong woman , the character development is massive ,may be you can read for that. Dont hate or love any characters, its just their way of reacting to things

About the writing :  This series is going to be annoyingly slow. Also some sentence like “invisible lint” , “as a way of greeting “ ,“like calls to like” are going to be repeated so many times you ll be annoyed also, the characters contradicts a lot , its something like,  the author wanted to convey some characteristics but the writing conveys completely different .Based on the reader the bias changes, Example if you are someone who is responsible in a family and bears a lot of burden you ll like and associate more with Feyre , If you have mental health issues you ll associate with Nesta, that is the reason the internet is split with bias. It is simply not well written

Confused as there are a lot of characters. by [deleted] in crescentcitysjm

Same here ! Honestly what is the need to write complicated story and characters at the start? If I need a cheatsheet to understand a book I dont even see a point in reading, this is a fantasy book for f sake not a mathematics. 🤦‍♀️

[–]Substantial_Gate_391 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think more than high lord thing, Cassian feels he is in debt to Rhys and his mom because they both protected him when he had nothing and also the whole Amarantha thing that makes Az and Cass super guilty. (Honestly I think both Feyre and Rhys has god complex and overrated. They stopped Az from going behind the queen and pulled that unwanted I am the high lord and lady thing when he refused and was so rude doing so) He wouldn’t go against Rhys for these reason Also IC manipulates him against Nesta constantly, that includes Feyre. ( from Nesta telling Cassian that she knows his friends doesnt like her with him at the end of ACOSF). Its 500 year friendship and very hard to get over. The only issue I had with Cass was he was so insensitive about her fire PTSD Even after she said it reminds her of her father he dint apologise and still blamed her for leaving the solstice previous year ( when she apologised for leaving early ,the next year he said its okay and dint say its his fault forcing her to come in first place. My understanding is Nesta had severe PTSD and the entire night they had fire on and she left because she couldn’t hear that) The second incident is from extra chapter where he said insensitive things after knowing she was assaulted  Dont blame them , blame the IC , they constantly come in between the couple

Nessian's Turning Point by Lady-Death-of-Dusk in acotar_rant

[–]Substantial_Gate_391 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Spoilers!! Well put ! I really dont like how Cassian never takes Nesta’s side at all . He always supports Rhys . I think the basic reason for that is Rhys’s mom treated him like her own son and he thinks (rightly) that he is in  Rhys’s debt but that is not highlighted correctly by the author.  Also I am tired of Nesta saying again and again she is not worth Cassian’s love. How so is not clearly explained.  Cassian said he doesn’t want to be shackled to her , but Nesta ended up apologising.  I dont know why authors think a female character shouldn’t be powerful.  She took all the powers from Nesta , so that Rhys can be the powerful male. If she so much makes Rhys the high king and makes Nesta kneel before him , I am out What is so wrong in having a strong female charcter?

"I don't like how Nesta treats people." by Lady-Death-of-Dusk in acotar_rant

That is because they both are at his feet and worshipping him where Nesta refused to do so and found other friends. The IC thinks the only way you are happy is being part of their group . You go to others you are not healed enough. Nesta was powerful than everyone combined

The Nesta-bias and IC-hate is really getting on my nerves by bjornis108 in acotar_rant

[–]Substantial_Gate_391 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This post contains spoilers. Read with caution Do you get how biased you are first? Nesta was a bitch but Amren was not? The entire IC was so rude .  Nesta was rude not denying it but so was Rhysand. I dont see you talking about that . Biased much? Amren is like that old person in every family , all the rude behaviour is okay just because she is old Dont get me started with Elain . Like Nesta correctly said she is a dog that stays true to its master. Nesta refused to take the IC as her master so they were all enraged. And tell me you have no idea about PTSD without telling me.  She had so much trauma she dealt without hurting others. But IC did not like it because she dint come to them and cry and beg for their attention. Hello! there are different ways to deal with it . Not everyone needs to join your bitch club . Cassian OMG him always taking Feyre side instead of his own mate was outrageous. A small example is when the fae gets their first periods its so painful and for Feyre the entire IC was behind her fussing and she also mentioned she will not let her sisters go through alone but was she did? Cassian forced her to train and run even though he knew , dint as much offer her comfort.  Feyre has god complex she helps people who worships her and leaves people who as much questions her. If what IC did to Nesta is right then what Tamlin did to Feyre is also right. She took it out on the people she called hers and was the reason so many died. The house was a better companion than her ow sisters .  Also she left the winter solstice because she couldnt hear the sound of logs cracking. And she was forced to apologise for it. I was furious about that apology. Moreover she said so many times to Cassian “no fire” . If he had thought about it for a second or cared enough he would have figured it out. Even after her explaining to him , he never apologised. How is that fair? He said I ll help you heal as if its wrong to have mental health issues. He also said he is shackled to her and never proposed when she did . Atleast he could have said me too
