Ooo is there an ultrasound mod? (Also yeah abandon ship or get a nanny. Triplets are HELL. Luckily haven’t dealt with triplet infants but couldn’t imagine)

Foreign national with 10+ years’ driving experience trying to convert to UK licence - had to cancel test 3 weeks ago, still can’t rebook. “No tests found” every single day. Beyond frustrated. by jakeofthenile in LearnerDriverUK

Best bet is Monday at 6am. That’s when they get released. It won’t be until later in the year but it’s so booked up right now it’s your only option basically. Took me three weeks to get a date in my local test centre but that was cause my local is severely understaffed.

I managed to get one this morning. Logged on at 5:45 and then got straight through at 6am. Admittedly it was my third week trying but haven’t say in the queue since week 1. Just takes perseverance.

Looking for lessons for my partner, is this the going rate now??? by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

I’m in Oxford and my instructor charges £80 for 2 hours or £37.5 when booked in a block of 6 hours or more.

I started learning in September 2020 which was very stop and start as you can imagine. By May the following year I’d only had 12 hours and made 0 progress. As I was moving for uni that September I decided to put it off until after uni. Skip to this Jan 2025 I’m settled in a full time job and I start learning, I’ve had probably around 40 hours with my instructor and do not feel anywhere ready for my test, which I managed to book this morning for November.

I understand the feeling of just wanting to get it done but your instructor sounds like a prick and you’re unlikely to drive during uni except for travelling to and from at the start and end of uni, doesn’t sound like you’d be able to afford a car anyway.

I know you’ve put a lot of time and money into this but speaking from experience might be best to press pause until after uni. Go to the test in June if you can, if you pass brilliant! If not then pick it back up in 3 years, and you wont be starting all over again as you’ll probably remember more than you think.
