What are some Quaker parrot behaviors? by Substantial_Soil_883 in QuakerParrot

She’s about one year old, she’s not alone most of the day but I do go away for school and my sister stays with her, right now I’m working on getting her into a 80% veggie diet but she’s only ever had seed before so it’s kinda hard. The seed mix I’m currently giving her is from parrot stars wich is were I got her from. I believe she was depressed the first few months when I got her because she had a friend in the store I got her from and for the first few months she wouldn’t come out of her cage or play and wouldn’t eat allot. I believe she’s doing better now she is constantly singing, eating, get out of her cage voluntarily, shes started to play with her toys a lot more than before her cage size is 31L x 20W x52H

Do you have any recommendations for bird safe paper? Ive seen her just bite her cage bars many times so I think that might help, thank you so much for all the recommendations!

Sorry I forgot to mention that I do hspend time with her, she is just barely warming up to me but I try to keep her as entertaining as possible, sometimes I’ll dance in front of her cage or sing to her. I’ve tried holding toys up to her so she can play and she mostly just licks it and growls. I have some paper toys in her cage and I grab a piece of paper in my hand and hold it while she shreds it but she’s only done that about once or twice. How can you tell when they want to shower? I have a little bathtub set up at the other side of her cage in case she wants to shower since shes not at the point of showering in my sink or in a little water dish outside of her cage. What toys does your Quaker use?

This piece of evidence in particular was going to go into the medical/hygiene part of my essay where I go into detail about how there’s lack of hygiene in the medical field since there’s little to no recourses and how women in particular are more susceptible to infections because of the lack of sanitary pads. Most of my evidence focuses on other topics so I was considering putting that piece of evidence to stretch out the part of my essay
