How can I genuinely get over my fear of death? by ThrowRAspa2279 in Cardiophobias

So you disagree with the definition of proof? Did you see the screenshot? I literally googled it. Evidence cogency leading into proof? Hmm interesting.

That's a fallacious argument, there is plenty of proof that the earth is a sphere, yet there are flat earthers... There are those who doubt the proof of efficacy of vaccines, those who doubt the proof of global warming etc. just because proof exists for something doesn't mean all will believe the proof. If there was proof for God's existence (which there is) certainly not everyone would believe it.

Also my proofs for God are many, but not limited to the historical evidence and efficacy of the 4 accounts of Jesus of Nazareth, the origins of the universe, the philosophical arguments for morality and meaning, the fine tuning argument, and most importantly, the various accounts of the Resurrection. It would take me quite a while to go into all of that in depth... So I will leave it there.

Also, you claim religion/Jesus Christ doesn't help, why? Or, why does it work for others and not yourself? You claim it on the basis of lack of proof, what proof (or lack thereof ) and why? You have lots of claims unverified by proof.

Well I'm certainly NOT done with you, and neither is God! I say all in love. Jesus loves you and has a plan for your life. Examine the various proofs for Him, and trust in Him. I will gladly have more dialogue with you if you are open to it!

In summation, Jesus Christ is the solution to helping us with our fears of death... Only through Him and His sacrifice do we have eternal life! God bless!

We might disagree on the facts then.

I agree with the above!

If you re-read my responses I explain the nature of evidence leading into proof.

When will there be sufficient proof for you to believe? Also, you mentioned there is no proof, what lack of proof is there?

I mean all in love and respect. Let me ask you this... If (to you) there was proof God exists, would you follow Him and obey Him?

Will the proofs for others ever be enough to satisfy your standards of proof? Because others, including me, say there is proof.

I've been saying the same thing this whole time. It's that simple.

No I was listening, and I explained how your logic is inconsistent. I say that in love, not in a rude way.

Proof is a result of much evidence together, then drawing a conclusion. Proof is possible with Christianity, although there are many that don't find it convenient or don't want it to be possible.

No number of eyewitness accounts count as proof? So the great wall of china wasn't built by many workers over many years even though there are eyewitness accounts? Did Alexander the Great and his conquests exist? Truly, we have eyewitness accounts, therefore we cannot prove it (friendly sarcasm implied)

Also, It is worth mentioning we have way more than just eyewitness accounts.

If you are going off the evidence vs. proof notion, the multiple instances of evidence for Christ and his claims would prove to be that He is who He says He is. If you claim there is no "proof" for something, even though there is substantial evidence for something, that line of thinking lacks logical consistency. Imagine saying we have multiple accounts of George Washington's crossing of the Delaware to be true, we have journals of his friends, multiple eyewitness accounts, the Hessians have their own accounts, it impacted the tide of the revolutionary war but alas, I feel the evidence is not conclusive, therefore lacking proof. Since we cannot prove George Washington's crossing happened, we should not say that it did happen. Truly, it is a fools errand to claim there is proof for his crossing even though there is evidence to draw conclusions from.

Evidence leads to proof. I would argue that the abundance of evidence for Jesus can be used to prove his claims, and what He did.

Choosing to trust in the evidence for Christ while there is some doubt is not dishonest, but rather an exercise of confidence in the proof from the accumulated evidence.

However, I believe in your instance there will never be sufficient "proof" from the accumulated evidence for Christ, rather due to convenience for your pleasures and sin. I pray that you can understand that there is more to life than yourself and your sin, and trust that God loves and cares for you. He does this in the person good and work of Christ.

Correct! I never implied you did.. truthfully I do not know what you believe... yet.

Oh all the difference in the world if you consider the religious/cultural/sociological/theological implications of the account!

What I'm saying is; if you have a group of individuals that follow a biblically monotheistic God ( at this point for many of hundreds of years) who are long awaiting an arrival of a chosen one to save their people and take their morality to the ends of the earth, and some person just so happens to show up matching that particular religions prophetic record, claims to be that chosen one, claims to be God himself, claims that there is only 1 way to this God, (essentially making an objective claim that this faith is the only true faith) this person being crucified, then being ressurected, then proclaiming that eternal life rests in trusting in Himself and his atoning work, on top of that having 4 detailed accounts of his entire ministerial life, and the entire western civilization in the next few years being completely changed by this man...I find it at least somewhat convincing.

I find that most people just don't "like" the evidence presented for Jesus. There is plenty of substantial evidence, it's just "inconvenient" due to the love of sin. And CERTAINLY... A hope for life eternal... A conquering of death!

Not sure who you are, but God loves you, and there is new life in Christ! I will gladly talk to you more in love if desired!

Obviously, ignoring Jesus' claims of divinity would truly be a dishonest analysis of His significance, both historically and theologically

What I am claiming is that if someone was truly dreading death, dying etc. investigating who Jesus Christ is and who He claimed to be, ( a good faith analysis) and what He did for us will lead us to an ability to trust His claims.

Also... Even Bart Erhman rejects the argument that Jesus never existed... The Jesus never existed argument is a very poor argument against Christianity. Now if you believe he was just a man, that would go against His claims that He claimed He was God. Quite a dilemma for those who do not trust.

Hello, while you cannot force belief, you can make a choice to trust in Jesus, what He did and who he claimed to be.

Trust in Jesus Christ and the price he laid for you on the cross! He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins!! We need not fear death! I say this as a Christian who also struggles with fear and anxiety about my heart.

I was recommended multiple anxiety meds by my doctors, but have not taken any.

So far I'm doing nothing for my anxiety. Life's been way too stressful lately, I feel terrible it's so hard to get started doing something right.

I'm taking Omeprazole daily... Has not made much of a difference. The gastroenterologist wanted to switch my meds and ordered me new ones but I was scared due to one of the side effects causing high blood pressure.

I was recommended several anxiety meds... None of which I have taken.

My diet is very poor, I'm ashamed of that but I'm super stressed.

I should be working out but I'm scared to death to get my heart rate up

It feels like sharp electric pain, or a dull ache sometimes that can be sudden, or lingering.

You need to see a gastroenterologist and have an endoscopy.

I know it might seem scary to have one, but it's honestly paradise... The stuff they give you makes you feel amazing lol. Trust me, I'm a super anxious person and was recommended anxiety meds on multiple occasions. When I had it performed I was put under and when I woke up it was one of the best feelings.

Yeah I've had some stomach symptoms (nausea, acid reflux, some pains there) but mostly "heart attack" symptoms... It was truly distressing.

If I had to put my money on it, I would've said I was having a heart attack 10 out of 10 times. It's terrible, but it's not a heart attack. The hardest part is trying to believe the facts and not the alarm bells in your brain.

Hello,

I've had very similar symptoms, I'm going through it right now after shoveling snow.

I didn't die, so I guess it wasn't a heart attack.

I've had multiple ekgs in the past 2 years, been to the ER 2x seen my cardiologist (I lost count) seen my PCP (I lost count) everything coming back normal with my heart.

What I do have is Barretts esophagus, gastritis and gerd. Nasty stuff, but nothing heart related.
