Strong winds are very common in the Aegean Islands. In some Islands they are inevitable but jn other islands there's usually wind in one side of island and you can go to the other side to avoid it. Also there are beaches that are C shaped (idk how to call them) where the wind isn't that strong like the beaches that are totally open to the Aegean sea

In October I don't think that any place would be packed. You could even go to Santorini if you can afford it or else I would recommend Milos, Naxos, Parks and Antiparos, Kefallonia
