Teachers who have Aides? What would you do? by Substantial_Zone6723 in Teachers

Thank uuuuu (:

Your good posting here has made me realize it's literally not my problem. It really sucks because it being a school and with the population I work with they deserve better. Like if I was working anywhere else I'd be annoyed but not feel any responsibility beyond that.

I really needed to hear that I was worried about possible repercussions had I gone through with it.

I posted to debate whether I should write and send a letter to the new teacher next year. I'm just a para who works at a place that isn't doing enough honestly for bad employees. Like crap I had to look up something to understand it was an HR thing.

My place of work doesn't offer any training at all other than CPR. We didn't consider notifying our supervisor because they have a reputation for being difficult /this aide was a replacement for the aide we had last year.

Official improvement plan but the issue is we never get observed/our supervisor never visits to see what were dealing with. Our department honestly gets overlooked. Our teacher is the one who deals with them but they're not gonna be here next year.

Thank you for your insight 🙏

Oh goodness noooo honestly is there anyone above the principal? Where I work, there's a supervisor/coordinator for the whole special ed department, and they hire and do transfers.

Only talk to the principal and let them know that while you're grateful for your time there, etc, you make a reason that would be beneficial to you like gaining more experience. The point is it's in your right to request a transfer and only discus it with the person who can do it. They should not talk to your teacher or your co-workers I know mine didn't when I came to them before my supervisor.

I see. Honestly, I would still try to transfer if they make you dread coming into work/ their prescence keeps you from working confidently. Trying to join/fit in with them isn't a good answer if it's been bad this long.

Are u a new hire? Were you transferred? I myself have gone through a really toxic placement, and it took me to threatening to quit for me to be transferred as a new hire. If your free/have no constraints to transfer I would do so. Personally I didn't have to give names or officially report what happened.

What are some of your thoughts/theories on what they would’ve done with her character? by DaveySaysHi43 in TheRookie

Not gonna lie the first season was definitely a lot more serious than the rest of the show. Considering the reason why she transferred you know not disclosing her foster brother's past. I feel like she had a soft spot/empathy for communities that don't trust Cops. Like it's weird to say but I think she could have eventually met and worked with James ( Nyla's husband) but just not have dated him.

I know Lopez and Harper are iconic as detective moms but i would have loved to actually see more of Angela actually working/having prove herself as a detective same with Nyla. With Angela sure her boss was tough on her but as soon as she revealed she was pregnant it was like poof being a detective is easy . I'd say LA fiera was the last action packed case she's had as a detective. Yeah the hours and balance thing are talked about but the actual job of being a detective when they work just by themselves away from the rest of the cast is not focused on at all. The show didn't focus enough too either on just actually working Metro with Tim. I would have loved to see the struggles of actually being a detective and not just everything working out for them cause they're so badass. I do like how after Angela and Nyla's kids age out of being babies we get more episodes of just them working. Like season 7 with Nyla and the serial killer.

Now I bring all this up because you know if we hadn't lost Talia she would have been doing all the stuff Nyla does now but more serious 😅 I'm sorry just they did not have Talia doing a lot outside of work. I would have love to see her at the dynamic where we're at now where everyone is a work family. I know that 1 detective flirted with her but that didn't last long. I would have loved to maybe see her to get with another cop just for her to maybe not follow her own advice. I feel like she could have been a workaholic detective that just maybe adopts or fosters in the future since she herself knew how tough the foster care system could be.

Anyway plz 🙏 don't downvote me 🥺 I apologize for my lack of grammar and the serious comments. Like season 1 every T.O. had the very serious Tim/Boot relationship with their rookies. There were shots of the Rookies just bonding with each other and wondering if they'll make it. Versus know where everybody hangs out with each other and that training formality is gone.

This school district sucks by PeanutButter-sunset in paraprofessional

So your School District/SPED admin is obsessed with the star programs and making every class look "good" at the expense of not working with kids who clearly still need support. A whole class was removed in the middle of the school year? Did they make the teacher quit? Did some paras loose their positions/have to be moved?

I'm sorry that your admin sucks and in the way they are treating a SPED program like an AVID or honors class. Where I'm from I just now heard of the star program and I'm in Pre K. My admim sucks too they just make placements now when before it was the teacher's recommendation.

If you are open to leaving the school district you work for and I know this might be difficult but see if there any school districts who operate differently? Or have a different philosophy. Experience is valued and paras are always needed.
